When did your cat last terrify you?

DP left the door open by mistake and Cookie and Biscuit popped out. It would appear Biscuit just sat on our doorstep and meowed a bit, but poor Cookie freaked out and hid under a neighbour's car. She had to be lured in with gourmet perle.

For the 5 minutes before I found her, I was so terrified. She's not too streetwise and would probably try to befriend moving vehicles.

DP is a little traumatised. Here they are after.

2am when she jumped on my bed, I thought she was locked in the kitchen.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/06/2017 13:26

Leroy got out a few weeks ago. It wasn't him being out that terrified me, it was how ill he was less than 24hrs later.

He has not learned any lesson from this. Hmm

ThouShallNotPass · 30/06/2017 13:28

Most nights so... about 14 hours ago.

When she comes in at night she wants a play before bed. She hides in various places around the house and leaps out on you and slaps your legs as you pass. That girl ain't right I tell ya!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/06/2017 13:32

ThouShallNotPass she's absolutely right. It's just that you don't know the rules. The most important rule to remember is that any cat can change any rule at any time without prior discussion.

Fell out my bedroom window then sat there looking at me till I ran down to get him

Hid in the spare room in a mixing bowl under a pile of bedding I looked through 11 floors of flats and electric cupboards the little sod was in my home the entire time

I walked into the kitchen to wash up and decided to give Kitty her supper. I stepped away from the sink to ask my DP to feed Kitty. When I stepped back to the sink Kitty had materialised out of the floor. She was sitting between me and the sink as if she had been there for hours.
The terrifying bit is that I have no idea how she got there. She really made me jump! We have a very small house. The bathroom is tiny and opens onto a narrow vestibule between it and the tiny galley kitchen. There is a backdoor (which was closed) and a door into the dining room, through which I was talking. There is not a single nook or cranny for anything bigger than a mouse to hide in. Truly a ninja cat!

TheCatOfAthenry · 30/06/2017 13:35

Sorry meant to add - Cookie is indoor only based on her self defence, and Biscuit is just still too little and needs more jabs.

Keep these coming!

Scared for cat's safety - just now, trying to wrestle large tent out of attic, realising I may just have to drop it, then noticing cat was hanging out at bottom of ladder. Managed to get the tent back in the loft, cat utterly oblivious.

Scared by cat - every time the other cat decides to follow me to the end of the drive, hide in a bush, the leap out yowling when I return.

DD is scared of the cats all the time. They often announce their presence by shouting ('DD, I've brought you that ball of yarn again', at 5am) but they're quite ninja-like on occasion.

About 11am.

The cleaner who I forgot to advise about my cat's stupid ways left the large bedroom windows ajar to let some air in.

Skywhiskers promptly decided to wander out of said window onto the sloping roof of the porch. Realised he couldn't cling on to the tiles...cue the sound of cat claws scraping down tiles and a very panicked looking cat. I meanwhile had to try and hang myself out of the window to gather up the 7kg idiot and pull him back up and through the window Confused

This is the 3rd time he's done the same thing Hmm

Last night, I was walking up the stairs in the semi dark, minding my own business and next thing my cat jumps through the banister at head height and squeals at me like a damn fox. She then proceded to beat the crap out of my feet for the next 10 minutes.

Dear Alabama, it was cuter when you was a kitten... Hmm

DeleteOrDecay · 30/06/2017 15:01

Not long after we'd gotten him. Me and DP popped outside, closed the back door behind us and left him inside. When we came back in we couldn't find him ANYWHERE. Logically we knew he couldn't have gotten out, but with cats you never know do you? Spent a good 15minutes trawling the house worried sick, only to find him curled up inside the sofa.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2017 15:13

Snorg escaped out the front door last winter. I went out and didn't realise until I got back 6 hours later. Took me an hour to find her once I realised she was missing. Fortunately she'd not gone far. She was hiding behind the neighbours bins. I was frantic looking for her. Thinking aged by 20 years. Felt very shaken up by it for a while. Also when I realised that she was very ill in February.

AmyB1986 · 30/06/2017 17:18

Last night my girl cat Matilda decided she would start punching herself in the mirror of our wardrobe! It sounded like someone knocking a wall down!
Let her out as I thought maybe she was feeling trapped in the house as she's very much an outside cat only for her to stalk and catch the biggest wood pigeon I've ever seen! She dragged it through the conservatory window alive, found it flapping around at 7am this morning, no cat to be seen. Two frights in less than 12 hours, I hate flapping birds 😖

Fell off the banister rail round the landing, must have hit or sailed past the coat hooks on the wall below and landed in a heap somewhere among the vacuum cleaner, extension lead, etc. Even BrotherCat looked concerned and ran downstairs to see if she was alright?

Fiona1984 · 01/07/2017 06:45

Trying to drive home last night, 25 minute drive with cat in his carry cage on the passenger seat, desperately trying to escape. I had visions of him flying around the car with claws out like a demented beast, and me crashing. He gave up after about 15 minutes and just meowed awfully followed by weird panting.
He's fine by the way, I'd just picked him up from the vets so I think he was a bit stressed.

ElizaDontlittle · 01/07/2017 19:01

Oops - bet your DP won't do that again in a hurry Athenry
I sleep with earplugs in - I generally have my cat radar working even tho I can't hear her - but there are times I guess that I must be very deeply asleep and crazycat comes in for cuddles and I wake up thinking I'm being attacked, heart pounding!!

abbsisspartacus · 03/07/2017 20:31

Black cat got into the toilet and sat on the back of the toilet I go in turn on light and scream

Vinorosso74 · 03/07/2017 21:10

Today. She went out 8.30/8.45 am, no signs of her until gone 5.30 and I was home most of the day . I had called her and shook food but nothing. Funny the back door of our student neighbours house opened and few minutes later there she was..... Think she's been stuck in there most of the day.
She is 14 and a half with a myriad of health issues so this sort of thing scares the hell out of me. We have a vet visit late tomorrow morning so cat flap will remain closed!
