Help! Neighbour not happy.

Our 2 cats are a year old. Rescue cats and not indoor cats.

NDN has been round today to complain they are using 2 bits of his garden as a toilet. He is very not happy. It's smelly and burning his grass. I accept it may well be our cats as it's a new thing.

I need to quickly figure out how to stop them. They have a clean litter tray indoors which they used to use. I can't get him a high pitched noisy thing as dd has Sensory processing disorder and it will drive her mad. I have offered to try and clean up.
Is there anything I can do to put them off? I can put something in his garden (lion poo?)

There's a spray you can get to deter them. Get your neighbour a bottle

Do you have a fence rounds your garden? You can add something to the top to stop them getting out, I can't remember the name.

I've ordered some anti car stuff off Amazon just now - things that had 4 stars - to try.
I did think about the fence but they can go over into a garden at the back and then up into his from there. We might have to try it if I can't dissuade them. He's got a huge garden so this is going to be a nightmare. We live on the edge of an estate so you can't control everyone Confused

Get dog to wee in his garden?
My cat uses my garden as a toilet(as do rest bloody neighbourhood kitties as he just watches and is like yeah,come use the facilities)
Time orange peel,coffee grounds etc don't work. Isn't there a plant cats hate smell of?

Give neighbour a water pistol. Doesnt hurt the cats but they won't like it!

Wolfie I suggested exactly that but he declined as he can't see that bit of garden from his house and works away a lot.

Still I could suggest another neighbour's dog but I think he'd explode!

I have offered to do poo patrol daily but he's still angling for them to be kept in I think.

We had this issue. Our cat decided he would ONLY piss and shit in a neighbours garden. They don't have or like cats.

I gave them permission to hose him (gently, not full blast or anything). He learned not to go in there after about 3 soakings.

My poor little chap.

Now he shits in my garden.

Neither is practical Yellow. We rehomed on the basis that they wouldn't be indoor cats. With 2 children they would get out. No matter what we do. Similarly garden layout including NDNs trees vegetation would prevent it.

They just don't use it. Well occasionally if it's belting it down with rain they will. They shared very happily with lots of cleaning and then stopped completely.

Those high pitched devices to deter cats are not audible to humans.

You can get spray. We found it really effective as we had cats that kept peeing in DDs playhouse, we haven't used it in ages but we still don't have any cats piddling in there.
Think it was just from wilkos.

Is he sure it's your cats? well nobody's seen them do it but it is a recent thing and my cats are the newest cats we know of so they're the obvious candidates.

Wolfie no, he has a big garden on a corner plot. There are two areas, one is accessible to me, the other isn't. I will clean the one that is. Every day if need be. I could suggest a litter tray for the other bit or a sandbox of some description but he'd need to let us in to clean it which doesn't sound like he wants.

Dodie not even someone with ASD and SPD? I'm happy to get one if it won't cause meltdowns. I need to try one out...

Ferry cheers. We have a Wilkos near us. I am hoping if we hit it hard for a couple of weeks they'll learn. Probably to use a different bit of his garden knowing my luck!

One of my neighbours had a cat deterrent when I was a teen - I couldn't hear it but it gave me a headache!
And not a psychological reaction as I always thought it was an ornament until I realised I'd get an odd feeling whenever I was near it!
I'm not sure if they are all like that, though? And this was a fairly long time ago - 10+ years. It also had a very short range, so might not bother DD anyway?

Jackson Galaxy, cat expert extraordinaire, recommends something like this to deter cats. It just releases a puff of air when it senses motion, which cats don't like. Quite pricey though.

ASD or not, some people can hear those, particularly young people.
