Not coping with cat being lost

My cat has been missing since Sunday. Normally she is never far and only out during day when we are around. She is only just 1 thus not even been going out for long. She was let out Sunday morning at 7am and not been seen since. I'm not sleeping and really not coping. I have done all the things I can called every vet and rescue center registered her lost with everything I can think of done the posters and leaflets walked round the village knocking on doors etc made postman and gardeners etc aware. Litter tray and bed in garden. Constant calling of her and searching.

Where do cats go what has happened???
How do you cope with this situation and the guilt??? Will I ever be allowed anouther cat again if I have to explain I lost my very loved cat like this?? I loved her so much and just wanted her to be happy thus she was allowed to play outside. We are in a rural area so cat heaven we thought. Our last cat was a hunter and was always blissfully happy with us and the set up a few trips out a day at least one kill one telling off by a human for dead animal in house then he just slept and got fussed. This new cat has gone missing and I just don't know what has happened or why?
Please any positive stories of cats coming back are needed now.
Also how long should I leave dirty litter tray in garden? It's bin day tomorrow.

Mine was missing for 8 days before he returned (same time of year as well)
Leave litter tray out, post to Facebook as well if you have it

Also is she chipped and spayed? It's not a nice thought but check with your council if they scan cats involved in car accidents

Don't panic yet , it could be that she's locked in somewhere like a shed/ garage , ask the postman if anyone is away on holiday this week and then check with their neighbours in case she's been locked in . I think some people put cats on the Doglost site , so that may be worth a try . My neighbours cat was missing for weeks and still came home. Good luck and hope you get news soon .

OP, I can understand how worried you must be. My own cat has never yeet disappeared for more than 24 hours but I have a couple of friends whose cats got "lost" for longer and they were found. One friend's cat often disappeared for four days at a time and came back.

Don't give up hope yet. You have also done everything I can think of in the circumstances.

Yes microchipped and neutered. I put her missing on the local Facebook site plus cat protection sites etc.

My boy was missing for nearly 2 weeks, don't loose heart Flowers
I've read that emptying the contents of your hoover around the neighbourhood can help, if cat is lost.

Here's my old thread if it helps. Some good tips on there https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/thelittertray/2663172-can-i-have-a-hand-hold-please

Mine was also missing for 8 days, in Feb when it was freezing and snowing.

Cats are very resilient, but I would be just as worried as you are now. I was a state when he was missing.

I hope you find her. FlowersFlowersFlowers

My cat did the same a few weeks before his first birthday. He was gone 11 days. I assumed the worst then came home from work one day and found him eating ham a woman had left out for the strays.

He also did it both times we moved house, he comes back when he's ready.

I hope yours returns soon

Try to stay positive, mine went missing aged 7 months and by the 3rd day I was absolutely desperate, I felt I had done everything possible to find him, I wasn't sleeping and kept bursting into tears. Fortunately he turned up and I think he had been shut in somewhere. If you have any neighbours with sheds/garages will they let you check them? Also a postman or milkman can be helpful for info as they cover quite a wide area.

Thank you. Trying to stay positive hence needing to hear that other had cats go missing and turn up after days/ weeks.
She is so young I just feel something must be stopping her coming home.
My mother hasn't help she suggested she may have chased an animal into a hole somewhere Sad. It's hard to work out if anyone has gone away but I feel that could be a possibility. She disappeared a Sunday morning so was quiet. No evidence of being hit by car I have searched the roads and the village is usually really quick to alert everyone if a dead cat is found on the road. As the publican said when I took in a poster a cat being run over is the biggest thing to happen round here. Sad do foxes or badgers attack cats?

I don't think cats get eaten by foxes or badgers.

It's hard when you just don't know though. We've had some miracles on here in the past.

timtam23 · 23/06/2017 20:21

A cat near me recently returned after 9 months of being missing. He'd vanished into thin air, the owner had lost all hope of seeing him again but there he was!

I don't think a young adult cat would be at much risk from a fox or badger. I guess you just have to keep hoping that she will turn up. I really hope she does just wander in really soon
