Recommend me a cat breed (please)

Ive had lots of cats in the past pre-kids but currently in a cat free house. We are planning on getting an adult rescue of this year - a laid back lap cat who can tolerate small kids. I'm not worried about breed for the kids, moggy is totally fine.

But it's got me thinking about how I really miss my Ragdoll cat. So, at some point, when I'm no longer clearing up after small kids, what would you recommend as a breed if I want the bonkers personality of a ragdoll but without the white fluffy double coat.

I also used to have a ragdoll and I'm afraid he wasn't a patch on my tonk.

biginjapan I think I had assumed a tonkinese to be very siamese-like. And my siameses were fabulous but more like really clever and hyper dogs than cats. I shall add tonkinese to my investigate-further list

My half Siberian half tortie rescue cat is absolutely mental but at the same time gorgeous. I love Siberians, had never heard of the need until we adopted her but now they are my favourite.

My mum has birmans. As docile as can be but ever so friendly (if a little needy!).

Singapura!

Very affectionate, lap cat. Will follow you around everywhere. Very intelligent and loves playing. Great with kids too so you wouldn't need to wait!

@Snafflebrain they are quite playful but are quite Burmese like in that they are really loving. He is watching springwatch sandwiched between dc laps right now.

I got to stroke a Devon Rex a few weeks ago. It felt like velvet! Little M 😻😻😻

Aww Jonsnowsghost we call the toe curls rabbit paws. Grin. all the cats are adorable. I really want a Maine Coone though, but I am only allowed two cats.

Another recommendation for Tonkinese. But one on its own might get a bit lonely as they are so sociable.

RubbishMantra · 22/06/2017 23:31

They do, don't they Toddler! Like crushed velvet!

Even though Snorg and Fatty may not be joining MENSA, they make up for it with their beautiful floofiness and little snuffly faces.

What lovely cats!
We had a silver mainecoon. I would highly recommend them. He was a house cat for 1.5 yrs and then we moved to the country where we thought he would be safe but sadly he was killed within a year on our lane... v sad...
We will get another one when we move

We have two maine coons. They are lovely cats. Very sorry to hear about yours Ojoj.

All cats are lovely but I'll never be without a Ragdoll now I have one. The sweetest, gentlest, most loving cat I've ever had and so good - she never scratches or destroys anything. She's also very good with other animals and surprisingly clever, she picks things up very quickly. I luffs her.

British shorthair. He's such a nice natured little guy.
