Omg they're adorable!

How did you get into fostering?

Asmoto · 10/06/2017 00:17

Goodness, Calypso is a beauty! I'd want to take all of them home with me.

sleephypnosiszzz · 10/06/2017 00:18

it's actually hard to get good pictures of the babies because they're mostly asleep or else feeding...

the mostly black one is pipsqueak and the mostly white one is nugget.

I want to scoop them up and cuddle them!

BarbaraofSeville · 10/06/2017 12:12

Oh, how adorable. How old are they?

I foster too, currently have 4 unrelated 10 week olds who are asleep all over the living room.

I said no to taking on a pregnant mum a few weeks because I was scared that I didn't know what to do when she had the babies and harm would come to her or the kittens if anything went wrong, even though this is supposed to be rare, so I regret that a bit now.

I got into fostering by responding to a Facebook appeal a couple of years ago. Or you could contact Cats Protection or google for local charities.

Here's two of mine

Fostering is great, because as well as helping kittens who might otherwise die, or live a poor life, you have a constant supply of adorable kittens that generally go to their forever homes before they turn into entitled adult cats who have you pandering to their every whim (we have a few of them here as well Smile).

CaoNiMartacus · 10/06/2017 12:16

Kittensssss. Truly one of life's great joys.

Favourite kitten part: their tiny transparent claws!!!

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 10/06/2017 12:18

I'm also fostering kittens ATM (it's that time of year). Too little and too black to take good photos yet but here's the best I've got. The mum is a long haired tawny black and by far the friendliest mum we've ever fostered - we've always loved the mums because they're beautiful and we empathise with their hard life and long suffering acquiescence to their DC's endless demands, but this is the first one we've fallen in love with for her affectionate personality.

You cat fosterers are amazing.

I imagine it's very rewarding, but how do you manage to part yourself with the kitties? I think I'd just end up with 30 cats Shock

BarbaraofSeville · 10/06/2017 12:27

Crunchy We kept two of the first group we fostered.

I keep thinking of the amount of money I spend on insurance, vets fees, cat feeding bills when we go away, a monthly Zooplus bulk order and all my clothes ruined by claws (especially those tiny adorable kitten claws when they climb up my jeans and hang onto the arse pockets whilst I am preparing their food) in a vain attempt To Not Keep Any More. DP is worse than me and I have to be strict in saying that we keep no more.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/06/2017 12:34

Can we move this thread to the litter tray, for the delectation of all the cat community?

Horsemad · 10/06/2017 12:50

Well Done cat fosterers Star It's a lovely thing you're doing. Smile

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 10/06/2017 13:04

We have two adult cats, also adopted from CHAT. They are our cats, they are attached to us, and they are low maintenance but they struggle to share space with each other let alone any interlopers. If we had adopted every kitten and mum then we'd have 21 cats by now, and a) existing cats would have a nervous breakdown b) we'd be a full time cat nursery c) we wouldn't be able to foster any more kittens.

This way we are a low maintenance pet household for 10 months of the year, and for 2 months of every year we are on kitten cuddling duty and it is All About The Kittens. But passing them on to their forever home with a smile and a farewell cuddle is an essential part of the deal.

Asmoto · 10/06/2017 17:32

Those black and tabby kittens are adorable!

SleepingTiger · 10/06/2017 17:35

I love baby tigers StarStarStar

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 22/06/2017 07:06

They're growing up! Came in this morning and mum came up to me looking hungry as usual, but all three of the kittens staggered over to say hallo and play with my feet.
