How can I help clean my old cat?

He's 18 and starting to look a bit manky now. He is still grooming himself but not doing a great job of it, so even though he is short haired he is getting clumps of hair and looks a bit dusty.
He hates being brushed though and at his age I don't want to put him in the bath. Is there anything else I can do to help him?

Bless him. They do start to look really old, don't they. I have a 20 year old who's looking very bedraggled these days. He spent the night at the vets on Friday as he was a bit poorly, but vet says he's not ready to go yet.

Anyway, back to your old boy. Would he be ok with you wiping him down with a warm, damp cloth? I'm going to give it a try on mine and see how that goes. At the moment, he's not too unhappy with still being combed.

I used baby wipes on my elderly, frail cat.

I gave his paws a clean yesterday, with non-perfumed wipes.
