I've just got 2 indoor cats, have never had indoor cats before-other ones used to go out during day then home at night to sleep. They are 8 years old and quite placid, havent really played with any toys. Very needy at times and Miaow a lot for attention. Haven't quite figured out what they are trying to tell me yet! I'm worried they will get bored being at home all the time-looking for suggestions please.

I have indoor cats. Mine get left for long periods when I'm at work. (I work 12 hour shifts.) they have toys but don't really play with them. When I've checked on them on Persiancam, they are usually asleep in their beds.

I've bought new toys today but they are being ignored. I'm just worried as they miaow a lot which makes me concerned they are unhappy. Maybe I just need to get used to them. They are different than previous cat who was much younger.

It might be that they just want to have a conversation with you!

Cats hate new places. The meowing sounds like distress but it's the normal cat distress of "Where the F am I?!!" They will calm down and view it as their true own territory within a fortnight, possibly within a few days. Just keep things calm until then.

What's a persiancam do I need one? Have you got dabird? That usually gets them going. High up places they can lounge on? What did they have before you do you know anything about what they liked?

Bairnsmum05 · 04/06/2017 08:35

They were in a rescue so not much information. They are v lazy, lots of places to hide/climb but they seem to prefer looking out the window.

Did u try cat nip on their climbing frame? They are probably just unsure where they are and how long for. Did they come from a home?

Bairnsmum05 · 04/06/2017 09:58

Yes they did. Lived with a lone woman. I've got catnip in a toy but they ignore it. Think it's still early days you're right I'll give them some time to settle in.

Do you have a cat tree?

Ours are indoors all the time. They spend their days fighting with each other, wandering around the house looking for food, and sleeping.

Bairnsmum05 · 04/06/2017 13:01

Yes I need to get one-I gave all my old cat stuff away to a charity so need to renew it all now.
