It's only been 24 hours but he's never done this before , I'm devastated he's only 11 months and his sister is missing him too. Been looking all day but we are fairly rural and it's like looking for a needle in a haystack 😞

You must be so worried. I have no helpful advice to offer but my cat once went AWOL for a fortnight. She reappeared, in true cat-like style, the evening before we were due to fly on holiday early the next morning.

Hope he turns up from his cat adventure soon Flowers.

Try popping a cup of your wee outside the door tonight. Apparently it helps them find their way if they've just wandered off a tad too far.

Thinking of you

confusednorthner · 02/06/2017 18:42

Thank you, I've been sat in car crying so dd and ds don't see. Have driven up to main road and all along it, walked over the fields till I can't actually walk any more and got neighbours on lookout. I feel like he's just disappeared.
Cup of wee....

Mine started doing this at about that age. Used to go for a couple of nights when the weather was good. He's just come back after a 7 week adventure. God knows where he goes. We are really rural too and a friend thinks she spotted him at the other side of the village. All I'm trying to say is I know it's horrible but try not to worry too much. Some of them just have a wonder lust. His sister never ever wanders off. Do the obvious things like neighbours and sheds and if you have a local facebook page put his details up. I always let the vet know too just invade he's brought. Really hope he comes home soon and try to remember they are amazingly self sufficient creatures

fatbottomgirl67 · 02/06/2017 18:58

Ps not sure about the cup of weeConfused

SnickersWasAHorse · 02/06/2017 19:00

I thought the idea what to sprinkle the contents of the hoover bag outside. They can smell that.

TheCatOfAthenry · 02/06/2017 19:33

Cup of wee is anecdotally helpful and can't do any harm. Hoover bag might work too.

Good luck, and the more stuff you try the better your chances. Smile

feellikeanalien · 02/06/2017 19:47

Could he have got locked in a shed or outbuilding? We live on a farm and one of our cats managed to get herself locked in the coal shed overnight. Also have you had any delivery lorries around? Some cats will get into anything.

Hope you find him soon. It's a horrible feeling.

Do you have a local shop? It might be worth putting up a poster.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.🐈

feellikeanalien · 02/06/2017 19:49

Sorry that was meant to be🐈!!!!

feellikeanalien · 02/06/2017 19:51

Apologies again. It looks like a cat in the draft but keeps coming out as a dog!

Dodie66 · 02/06/2017 20:07

Have you checked everywhere indoors? Could he be shut it somewhere or hiding ?

timtam23 · 02/06/2017 22:06

If he has a litter tray try putting some of the litter outside too. And hang something on the line, his blanket or something which smells of you. Sometimes they do go off for a wander once the weather gets warmer, especially the younger cats. Good luck with finding him

confusednorthner · 03/06/2017 10:38

He's back!!
We delivered notes to any houses we hadn't spoke to last night and his blanket was on line with Hoover bag split on driveway. He wasn't here at 1 as I had ds up crying for him or at 5 when do checked but at 7 I found him in bed with the 🐶.
I'm sure he was shut in somewhere as he was perfectly clean and dry and we've had awful storms most of yesterday.
Eaten loads and had a good telling off from his sister!
Thank you all for the support.
Off to Google cat trackers....

Aah, just seen this; so glad he's back.
With years of cat-wandering under my belt, the worrying never gets any easier. I always convinced myself 'they were never away this long before'...

What does help me is keeping a written log (on my phone) of how long they were actually gone each time. Sounds daft, but it works for my irrational thinking!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 03/06/2017 10:52

oooh a happy ending!

I was just going to say it's the warmer weather..idiotcat didn't show his face yesterday when I was in and out, and still wasn't in at bedtime so I was a bit worried, but he must have come in when ds went to bed!

TheCatOfAthenry · 03/06/2017 12:36

This brightened my day!

Delighted for you OP.

feellikeanalien · 03/06/2017 12:41

Great news OP.
Love a happy ending.
