Grounded for catching a bird

Cute little thing. Not sure if it was a fledgling or not but it didn't seem able to fly. Managed to get the cat inside and the bird hid behind a tree. I went back a little later and it was still there but had disappeared by the time I went to try and put it in a box to either go to the vet or move to a highler location.

Apollo was suitably unimpressed that he wasn't allowed back out. He's just rolled over with a sigh.

In the heat of the moment it's easy to shout at them for being horrible murderous beasts - but actually they are just acting on instincts and not maliciousness. I can understand you grounding him though! Hope the bird got away and wasn't just caught by someone else!!

Ours is grounded today for not adhering to the Green Cross Code. I saw her dash across the road without looking right, left and right again so at this moment she is very cross and is giving her scratching post absolute hell

The bird had disappeared. Sincerely hope it got back to its nest and wasn't caught by something else.

I know it's instinct, just doing my best to redress the balance.

I'd let him out. Its not his fault.

I'll sometimes see one of mine stalking birds at a distance, when I tell him to 'stop that' he turns round, gives me a dirty look and strolls nonchalantly in the opposite direction.

He went out mid afternoon. He actually fell asleep and didn't bother for a few hours. He's tricked the rest of the family in to opening the patio door to let him out. I refuse and he has to use the flap which he did eventually this afternoon. I probably won't see him now until gone midnight.

Ours bought a dead baby bird into the house the other day and proudly laid it in front of the feet of 6mo DS.

They were both highly disappointed when I took it away.

He now needs to be taught the Green Cross Code as well. He popped up on the front window sill, jumped down and only a few seconds later was called in through the front door. DS said he came running from across the road. Thankfully, we live in a close but I still worry about the cars.

Forgot the last sentence. He immediately disappeared out the back door. He loves the outdoors in the good weather.
