Love watching my cat eat. Is this normal?

Confession time.
She's my pfc and my world totally revolves around her Blush

But...is it going too far that I get all soppy watching her eat and lap up water?

I think I need a grip!

No, grip needed. I have always loved to watch my cats (I mean the cats that I have had the pleasure of living with over the years, not a large amount of cats living in my house at one time - although that would be lushGrin!) They are absolutely perfect in every way, their graceful balletic movements are a joy to behold plus They Are Completely Covered In Fur!!!Smile Also, if you are close enough to watch them eat there is always a chance you'll catch a whiff of their deliciously fishy breath!
A bit much you say op, what do you expect if you pose a cat question in the middle of the night? I am up, can't sleep for normal reasons and not because I am waiting for my cat to come in so I can bother her!

Broken11Girl · 10/05/2017 03:55

No, I totally get that, am the same. Pfc is my baby. If only I could get the little furry dickhead to be less fussy about her food.

Broken11Girl · 10/05/2017 03:56

Yy Nc1, I love playing with Madam BrokenCat, it's a joy to watch her stalk and pounce.

Papergirl1968 · 10/05/2017 08:19

Oh yes, and chat to them while serving it and when they're eating.
"Do you want some fishy wishy? Is that a lovely din-din? Say yes, momma cat, it's yummy yummy in mah tummy..." etc etc Blush

claraschu · 10/05/2017 08:22

I love hearing my cats eat and drink too. The sound of them lapping water makes me feel happy- like all is well with the world.

The sound of any human (even my beloved children) eating or drinking fills me with murderous rage.

fuzzywuzzy · 10/05/2017 08:23

Me too, but I have to do it discreetly and pretend I'm making myself a sandwich or something otherwise he gets all huffy and talks away. Then returns one I've vacated the kitchen.

The kittens dont mind me watching them tho. And the oldest cat will stop and look at me like what? Stop looking at me! Then he gets back at me and stares whilst I eat!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 10/05/2017 08:25

Is that nice? Is it? Is that yummy? Say "oh ver ver tasty fank oo Mummy"? Who's a good boy? You eat that up like a good big boy...

Yeah... I know where you're coming from!

shyturnip · 10/05/2017 09:24

Yes, fish breath! WHY does it smell so scrummy on her whereas I'd balk at the smell anywhere else?

When mine has something she REALLY likes, she makes a really loud nommy nom nom noise!

EachandEveryone · 10/05/2017 10:03

I wrote this exact same thing afew weeks ago! I love the sound of her crunching her biscuits. Its just a shame shes gone off all her wet food now though.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/05/2017 10:10

I would enjoy the sound of lapping, but with one of mine her drinking sounds exactly the same as the pre puke plumbing noise!

DollyParsnip · 10/05/2017 10:35

Oh Thank you for posting this, OP! I thought I was the only one Blush.

DH thinks I'm odd, but it pleases me to see the Cats so happy headfirst in their dishes Smile. I've stopped telling him how much I love their Cat breath though, as he did look a bit worried!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/05/2017 10:56

I totally get loving seeing cats eat. But loving their cat breath is going a bit far. And I say that as a fully paid up cat lady!! Grin

Tigerblue · 10/05/2017 14:20

Up until recently and I loved watching them do anything, sleeping, washing, pottering in the garden, but I did like it when both of them were eating at the same time.

BorpBorpBorp · 10/05/2017 15:04

I must dissent. I feel pleased that they're eating, but I don't actually enjoy watching them. And I do not like the fish breath, it's grim.

Washing and playing and sleeping and walking about is a joy to watch, though.

FurryLittleTwerp · 10/05/2017 19:06

I had an lovely ancient stray for a while & he was always so delighted to be given food. He purred & chirruped most of the time.

He wouldn't stop purring for eating & would make a purry snaffling noise, especially if given one of his favourites like bacon Grin

shyturnip · 10/05/2017 19:26

YY to chirruping and nom nom nom noises! So adorable! I swear she actually does say "yum yum yum" when she has her favourite treats. It sounds exactly like it! Grin

Fishy breath rules!!!! But only on a cat obviously, if your friend came round to see you and she was all fishy of breath it wouldn't be so darling would it. The same if she was chomping on some biscuits!Grin Sorry this post is worse than my last one on this thread. No, I shouldn't say that, I love every single thing about cats and I don't care who knows it! Obviously I am not going to actually post this ......

RustyPaperclip · 10/05/2017 23:18

Nope. Carry on as you are OP, but remember to avert your eyes if they catch you staring. Cats like to maintain an air of mystery and nonchalance
