My cat died today - other cat sad

Hi all, I'm just after a bit of advice please.

One of my bengals died today, he was a super adventurous boy & was sadly hit by a car. He was tagged (kept ripping his collars off) and a vet rang me today. He was only 10 mth old and we are all so sad about it.

I'm wondering about his brother (my other cat). They were very playful together and slept together/ groomed one another a lot. Now my other cat is sat on the window staring & keeps nipping in & out the house.

Could he be looking. For his brother? Do cats get sad when this happens? I just don't know what (of anything) to do. Can anyone offer any advice?

I think usually they suggest letting the survivor see and smell the other cat if you can face that. Hopefully he will get over it once ours got to 12/18 months they tended to fight rather than play so long term he will probably be happy as a single cat. Flowers for your loss.

Oh my heart is breaking for you.
One of my cats was killed on Easter Sunday (mummy cat) and daddy cat was heartbroken, it's so awful to watch, he sat by her body for a while and he just looked so sad.
He was much better after a few days, just make sure kitty is eating and drinking and give him/her extra attention x

Oh no I'm so sorry, it's awful to lose them at any age but 10 months is so young.

My childhood cats all hated each other so they didn't really care when we lost one. Yours probably is looking for his mate though.

We let ours see the deceased, they know what's happened then.

Thank you all.

He's at the vets in cold storage. I don't plan on going to get him and I don't think I want to go and get a stiff as a board cat really SadHmm

How awful. My Dcat who was killed by a car, wasn't missed by the two remaining Dcats, at least I didn't pick up on anything.

Best wishes to you & your little furry friend.

My cat was very sad when his sister went missing. He wailed at night for three nights, then he was ok. Super happy in fact. Then we found her (after 5 or 6 days missing) and he wasn't that happy to see her again! Anyway hopefully your dcat will not be sad for too much longer and Flowers for you.
