Flea Treatment

Which do people find is best for keeping the fleas at bay... either the Seresto collar or the injection?

I have one cat who is out all the time and one who is mainly indoors.

I was thinking the collar for the one who goes out and the injection for the one who stays in.

I have 2 cats and they're in mainly but go out now and again for mooch about. They don't wear collars. I've always used Stronghold which is a monthly drop to the back of their neck. Get prescription from the vet and buy online.

I don't want to tempt fate but they are 6 and 7 and I've never had a flea problem with either one or in the house and they go pretty much everywhere in the house so I think it's good stuff.

I wouldn't use a flea collar. Harry has Advocate once a month, which goes on the back of his neck. Touching wood, although he goes out, he's never had fleas.

My two get advocate spot on that we get from the vet

Another Stronghold user here-never had a problem. Our vets recommend Stronghold or Advocate.
Avoid flea collars and anything by Bob Martin. Frontline is ineffective.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/05/2017 13:53

The injection only stops the fleas breeding, it won't kill them.

Bringmesunshite · 03/05/2017 14:02

Advocate spot on from the vet.

We use advocate and it works well? One month we didn't do it on time and the older one got fleas :(
Don't use Bob Martin. A Bob Martin flea collar made our cat's neck bald (although it's handy to do the spot on!)

Have recently started using Bravecto as it does ticks as well and lasts 3 months. Have used Advantage in the past

I've never liked the idea of flea collars, so I use stronghold every 6 weeks on my Dcat who goes outside. My 2 indoor Dcats aren't treated for fleas, etc, as recommended by the vet and they've never had fleas or worms. My outdoor cat doesn't mix with my indoor cats as she's a big fat bully!

Don't buy anything from a supermarket. At best they're ineffective, at worst they're dangerous. Advocate or Stronghold.
