Dcats room into nursery

We live in a 3 bed semi and currently have our box room as Dcats room, with his food, water, litter tray and lots of toys and a stretching post in. We chose it as we could easily contain him for a few days when he was a kitten, and the puppy wouldn't eat his food! (We got a kitten and puppy within 8 weeks of each other last summer!)
However, I have found I'm pregnant and would like to turn that room into the nursery.
When should I move all of Dcats things out to a different place?
Will he always associate that room as "his" (he rarely uses the litter tray now, goes in one patch in our garden - but I am concerned about accidents!)
Thank you!

Couldn't the human baby have the second room and the furry baby keep the box room? Or upgrade furry one to the larger room as befits his/her status as ruler of the household?

Sorry misread the question!
