Wellbeloved or Gocat?

Dr Mewler has been fed mostly on James Wellbeloved or sometimes something else similar for all of her 10 years. This was on the advice of a friend of a friend who owns a pet shop. I don't buy from her so she has no vested interested. However, a friend who I greatly respect has told me that she gives her two pedigree pusses Gocat because she thinks it's less rich and easier on their tummies. They are indoor cats so she sees the outcome iyswim!! So I'm now wondering if Gocat is perfectly ok for Mew as Wellbeloved is obviously more expensive but also means a car trip to the nearest place that sells it rather than pop to the corner shop. Any thoughts?

Go Cat is terrible and is directly linked to crystals and blocked bladders in male cats. Studies have shown that such cheap dry food is responsible for the untimely deaths of a lot of male cats. If your cat is male then I would probably try to avoid dry altogether, but JWB is infinitely better than Go Cat.

Even if your cat is female, still JWB all the way.

You know it's not a good food when the first ingredient is cereals and cats are carnivores! I use ava dry from pets at home as it had 66% meat and meat is the first ingredient. They also have wet food

Harry ate JW for years until he broke his jaw and I never found it that expensive. I used to order it online from Fetch. Please don't feed Gocat for the reasons TCN says.

I feed James Wellbeloved and have it delivered. I used to order from Zooplus but now get it from Amazon on subscribe and save so I don't even have to remember to order it.

I would avoid Gocat, well actually I would avoid anything sold in a generic supermarket, most of them contain cereal as their first ingredient which is ridiculous Zooplus it's very cheap, has tons of great quality food and prompt delivery.

Thanks for this. Mew is female and has always been very healthy on JW with no wet food at all. I was a bit confused about it all but will stick to the good stuff. I usually go to Pets At Home, partly because I enjoy going there, but I've had to go more often recently because we've got a greedy intruder. DH is halfway through fitting the microchipped door which will solve that problem. Maybe I'll order on-line and go to the shop less often.
