Neighbours cat

We've had kittens for 8months now, we had them at 1month old. Recently we have had a new neighbour move in, who also has a cat, an older ginger cat. He has taken a liking to bullying my two kittens, comes into our garden and chases them back into the house. What do I do? So far I have tried skirting water in his directio to get him out the garden, but it has a temporary effect and he's back in a matter of minutes. Should I try speaking to my neighbour?

Try hissing at him and doing a fake lunge in his direction, like you're a bigger cat. It's tough though. I didn't really come up with a good solution when my cats were being intimidated, but to be fair the neighbour's cat wasn't exactly bullying them, he's just a huge unneutered Bengal tom who looks like a lynx and his interest and approach was scaring them.

It just sounds like normal cat behaviour. It's just what happens when people have free roaming cats, the bigger cats will try to dominate the territory around their home. If you were to speak to the neighbour I don't see what they could possibly do about it. I'd just keep squirting him with water and if that isn't working then you could cat-proof your garden to keep your kittens in and the neighbour's cat out.

Do you put lemon in the water you're squirting? Sometimes that has the desired affect, as cats don't like citrus.

Nerf gun? Foam bullets but still pack a punch!!

Some of my students just got a caution from the police for using Nerf guns outdoors, though.

Get a more powerful water gun, and yes the hissing lunge thing!

Had a bastard huge neighbours cat that used to come in and try and beat mine all up (and mine weren't shrinking violets) and Nick their food so I would yowl and hiss and chase him out and over the fence into their garden. Whenever I saw him I yowled like a Tom cat and he learnt to keep away. He was a horrible git.
