Sphynx cats

I usually just get black moggies from the animal shelter but both my sisters are so allergic to cats they carry epipens, I have been banned from their houses due to their allergies to even a bit of cat fur.
They are real allergies, I've been through the medical testing with them.
We have to meet up in cafes and we never hug in case I get a bit of cat hair on them.
I hugged one of my sisters once with a jumper I'd had on around the cats and her eyes swelled shut it was awful.
So I'm thinking when my current cats go - they are quite elderly - my carpets are due to be replaced anyway so that shoudl get rid of most of the cat hair, I was thinking of getting a couple of shynx kittens or adult cats, I know they look weird with no fur but they are still cats. There is a pedigree rescue near me and they do have them from time to time.
Does anyone have any experience of these types of cats and their needs?

They set off my allergies worse than any cat I've ever encountered before. Their skin is just covered in saliva and oils which contains the protein that triggers my allergies. If it's allergies your worried about then I wouldn't even consider a sphynx. In my experience long-haired cats are best if you're allergic. I have a Maine Coon and Siberians are apparently very low-allergen.

Really/ That's very interesting D, in that case I won't, I'll just continue with rescues. I do have a rescue British long hair as well as a short haired moggy but of course I don't know wether my sisters are allergic to one or both cats.

cats have an enzyme in their saliva which sets off allergic reactions in some people and being as cats lick themselves clean this is why people who are prone react, its not the actual fur, so even a cat with no fur will still be covered in saliva, and sphynx cats need to be indoors cats

I see, thank you. Iy would be a shame to keep any cat of mine indoors as I have a big garden in the country. Tiny house though and the cats love it. i'll carry on with rescue moggies but maybe just have the one next time.
