Food - why do they do it?!?

And why do I fall for it every time? 'Oooh, turkey and rabbit is my favourite flavour, go out and buy me lots!' I go out and buy it as requested and then it's 'Oooh, duck and pheasant is my favourite flavour, I don't want any more of that rabbit rubbish!'

The little sod won't even go near the bowl if it's got turkey and rabbit in it now, he walks the other side of the kitchen. We've tried leaving it down and hoping he'll eat it if he's hungry but no, he goes on hunger strike!

One day I'll learn and only buy a couple of boxes at a time!

Our vet calls this 'the diet dance'! Is your cat old? Our mog is 20, and after years of happily eating the same thing every day, about 12 months ago we started on with this. We rotate food, so she'll have the smoother pate type tins for a couple of days, then something a bit chunkier, then tinned tuna, then mostly biscuits. Means we have to buy individual tins, but not much is wasted.

Her favourite ever is Captain Birdseye cod in crispy batter. Needless to say this is a rare and delicious treat, not an everyday occurrence.

She is a pain in the arse but we love her, so we pander.........

You need to get at least one other cat. Then you will go through so much cat food you will end up buying huge 800g tins just to keep up .

He's coming up to 12. Does this mean he's going to get more awkward as he gets older?! I've been rotating his food, he started off with 7 flavours and now we're down to 3.

I've thought about another cat, but when we tried Harry walked out and I can't have my boy pushed out of his home. My bank balance wouldn't cope if the other one was as fussy as him!

It's because he's a cat!!

We've got a handy trick now

We use the mini sachets of food which means by the time dinner comes around, she's that hungry she will eat it.

There are biscuits down if she wants them in the day so she's not starving but any more food in the bowl and she won't eat it

PuffinCat went off her usual food to the extent that she vomited clear liquid, rather than eating. We relented and changed her routine until she settled down again. She'll now eat the stuff she went off at first but will still refuse beef, cod and plaice. Cats protection food bin does quite well out of her

And of course we'd just bulk bought the food when she went off it! Rookie mistake!

I'm relatively new to cat parenting game but I've been caught out by this 3 times already. They love something, I bulk buy, the girl changes her mind. And repeat

The boy will eat anything though
