Rescue cat suddenly not eating

Can anyone help please. Got our lovely rescue cat in September and she has been brilliant, settled in perfectly. She has always had whiskas pouches, one in the morning and one in the evening plus constant access to dry kibble.
Over the last few days she has stopped eating - not completely, she'll still have a mouthful of kibble or a couple of dreamies or a slice of ham but she is completely refusing her wet food.
She's drinking water and a little bit of milk as a treat. She seems perfectly well in herself. I've got a vets appointment for Wednesday am but does anyone have any ideas what's wrong with her? She's up to date on wormer and vaccinations. Thank you!

Lots of cats will inexplicably stop eating the wet cat food they have always loved. With my two, who do this a lot, I try a different brand/flavour and often they will whoof it down. Have you tried a different wet food? I think cats can get bored of their usual food. If you have, and your cat is still not eating, then I think you are absolutely doing the right thing in taking her to the vets.

I bought her some Sheba chicken breast posh stuff but she turned her nose up at that.

Like Icequeen says they can be fussy. Happily eat something for ages then refuse it; although sometimes the recipe can change so cat goes off it.
I think it is worth getting her checked over if you're worried especially as cats are so good at hiding things.
Boiled chicken breast or turkey breast (the stir fry pieces) are good to entice them to eat as they smell quite strong.
Hopefully she's just being fussy.

Tinned tuna often does the trick!

How old is she, Lovelong? And is she still using her tray?

She's three. She's still using her tray, her poo looks a bit paler than normal. We do live next to a farm do she could be finding something to eat there.

Ah. She goes out?

Vet's only two days away.

Ah she must feel well at home now. . It's a cats duty to play us until we have explored varieties of cat delights we never knew existed. . . Until they eventually settle on the brand you originally started out with. .

Bet you a Sheba carton the vet finds absolutely nothing wrong with her!!

cozie she goes out for a bit (as long as it's not raining/ windy/ there are no pheasants in the garden!) and we back onto a farm/livery yard so it quite probable she wanders over there.
Ilove I really hope so, we all love her to bits!

Maybe she's eaten something dodgy and has a poorly tummy.

Did you try chicken or tuna?

Have a little poke and squeeze around the belly to see if she reacts or seems uncomfortable anywhere maybe.

Bet couldn't find anything obvious wrong with her. No pain, no temp, no jaundice signs, no anaemic signs, not underweight. Have been keeping her indoors to exclude any external factors i.e. someone else feeding her and she is gradually improving- she is wolfing down chicken, ham and felix crispies and managed half a bowl of her proper food last night!
We've got to take her back to the vets on Monday for a check up and for blood tests etc if necessary.

Have you any neighbours who might be 'in the frame' for this ?

I don't think anyone has fed her on purpose but I think the cat that lives at the livery yard next door gets food put out for him and I have a feeling that could be something to do with it!

Out of interest, how is she doing being kept indoors?

She seems quite happy, not really making any attempt to get out - quite content curled up on my bed!

I'm just wondering whether that's the way to go then ? (Only to let her out if you receive a really strong request.)

It's definitely something to consider. It would be such a pity though if she never goes out, we live off a really quiet road and have a huge garden so it's perfect cat territory!!

I used to try to force Oneago outside when there was horizontal rain. (We had powerful winds.) It got so that I would open the back door and he would run in the opposite direction, back to the pleasures of carpets. He thought, I think, that outside was a truly appalling place.

(It's fair to say, though, that he had company most of the day and lots to keep him entertained.)
