Hello, I have a Persian Chinchilla. He's 18 months old and up until recently has had a normal tummy/poos but today is his second bout of the runs in a month. He has wet and dry food which hasn't changed and he stays inside. Anyone have similar issues or know of a good food for delicate tummies?

I wonder if they've changed the recipe.

I had this with my indoor Persian who was already on wet and dry food for sensitive tummy! A week of nothing but cooked chicken calmed her gut and then I slowly reintroduced the prescription food. The vet also prescribe some kaolin to syringe into her which helps the poo solidify. The vet diagnosed cat IBS! Not great with a Persian 🙈 She had to have a lot of strategic trimming on her back area .....

He won't eat chicken he only eats cat food and at times foreign objects...don't think he's eaten anything stupid this time though. We got prescription food last month so using that now...not that he'll eat it! Urgh!! He didn't enjoy a bum wash in the bath, neither did I!

Squiity bum would be my worst nightmare. My Persians have very long hair round their bums. Sorry I don't have any advice but you really have my sympathy!

Thank you! He started puking too so we've been to the vets. She thinks he has IBS so he's on some meds to calm it down and starts a hypoallergenic diet...we'll see!

Could try nature's menu who do frozen raw meat.

I have this problem with my Manx, who has the mild version of Manx Cat Syndrome. Every day he has a piece of Tesco Basics white fish fillet for breakfast (not cos I'm tight, cos everything else is too rich) and that keeps him firm. Well, unless the dozy cow next door feeds him even after me all but having the screaming habdabs at her telling her not to.

That must be so annoying seahorses!! Mine doesn't go out so at least I don't have that issue. Will ask vet about chicken or fish but he really does just like Felix

Bogbastard has this problem at the moment - another pedigree fluffy cat! Vet prescribed some specially disgusting food and he had that in combination with boiled white fish for a week. Also some probiotic powder, probably vet snake oil but worked quite well.

Just reintroduced Sheba and the litter tray smells like Satans armpit and we are washing his backside again.

Op, I gave my girls half a pouch of Sheba as a treat spread over two days. Just had to take one of them to the vets to get her backside cleaned up! It was very sticky! Never again!!

Have you asked your vet to run tests on MincepiesCat's stools? Esp. for Giardia? I realise he doesn't go outside, but you do - meaning you can track stuff in from outside.

If that route's exhausted, then a pro-biotic from vet might help. Little M had a smelly/squitty bum when he first came to me at 13 weeks. Vet prescribed pro-biotics in a calibrated syringe to be squirted and mixed into his food. It cleared up, but I don't know if it was due to the PBs, or if it just just cleared up naturally.

Until your cat's stomach settles down it might be a good idea to ask the vet's to give him a sanitary cut under his tail. They shave a strip of fur off so diarrhea doesn't have anything to stick to.

So, yeah, ask your vet to give your cat a Brazilian.

Our cat has Fortiflora pro-biotic powder when her stomach gets a bit upset. She loves it.

Mines just had a Brazilian! So grateful she hasn't actually had diarrhoea.

Hello, the pooping and puking has stopped he's on some meds for a few days and I have a probiotic thing to give him. Vets given me a specimen bottle in case it starts up but she's hoping the hypoallergenic food will sort him. I did give him a little bum trim when it began! So fingers crossed he's ok. Thanks for all the advice
