I'm looking at getting my first ever cat! Eek! My husband has had them but it's my first time!
We have found one through a friend of a friend who breeds Burmese types. She has had a cat who is around 3 who will need a new home. She's good with dogs, children etc. We have both and we can go visit her, get to know her and introduce our daughter too.
Two questions! First is insurance. I have petplan with my dog, and whilst good they are expensive. I can add a cat but it's not the best value even as an existing customer. However, M&S do a £4000 a year limit, cover for life policy. It's a very competitive price. Anyone any experience of them?
Secondly, we have the opportunity to house a second cat (cats brother) if we want. At the same time. I'm unsure we have the space (small two bed house), but am also partly convinced that two might entertain themselves better than one. They are house cats. So would I end up filling my house with ridiculous amounts of cat toys if I just had one? I'm a stay at home mum, able to give plenty of time to the animals. Dog is getting on a bit and misses my mums cats who he used to see a lot (random reason for thinking of one I know!). So advice?
For what it's worth this has been a long decision with a lot of thought. I'm not one to rush these things as I want to take responsibility for these animals and ensure they are well looked after. Whether they are a fish or a cat!
