Very dry skin on cat

We have an indoor 11 year old, neutered male Burmese cat. In the last month his skin has become dandruff like, mainly on the lower half (waist area downwards). He has monthly 'back of neck' flea treatments and is combed regularly with a flea comb. I did wonder if it was fleas so put a flea collar on him too, but there has been no improvement and still no sightings of any fleas. I've inspected our other cats for fleas and found nothing. As a precaution I treated the house, washed all the bedding etc, but his skin is showing no signs of improvement.
Now, when combing him, it's picking up chunks of skin with hair attached and he licks the air whilst I comb him.
Thee have been no other changes in him or in the house, he's still as cuddly as ever...just with dandruff. Is there anything I can add to his diet or treat him with.

My Persians get this occasionally. Tried giving them coconut oil. (Cats are supposed to go mad for it) mine wouldn't touch it! I gave up trying to get supplements down them and give them the dreemies skin and coat variety. And occasiona we pouches to get oil into them. Not keen on those either!

I'd get rid of the flea collar as he's already having skin issues. Stick to other flea treatments. There are skin supplements you can get, usually omega oils. Jojoba oil is supposed to be ok for cats, I've put a little bit on my scabby boy's flea allergy scabs before. He's a supplement refuser

Thank you. I've just added the Skin and Coat Dreamies to the shopping order and I've removed the flea collar.
He is a fussy food boy so I'll look for Jojoba oil.
