The cat really enjoyed his holiday

He sat in the basket & slept or licked his bum for 3 hours, settleing in to the holiday house very well

Wanted to go out a few times but was easily distracted - had a bit of consitpation but was OK

& slept in the car on the way home

Settled straight away when he got back

So a massive success & we will do it again!!

Yep a spoiled, pampered Siamese we rescued a couple of years ago

My Siamese have always travelled with us in the U.K. Hotels, houses, holiday cottages etc etc. It may not be right for every cat but bonded Siamese seem to take the view that 'Where my Mum is, that's my home'. They've been fine.

Questions:
Where do you find cat friendly accommodation?
And what do you do with them when you go out? Leave them with the run of the holiday cottage or pen them up?
Do they never scratch or wee somewhere they shouldn't?

We left him the run

He only pooped on the floor when he was constipated I think there wasn't enough room in the litter tray to bend himself properly to help it get out

He was very happy with his my blanket to sleep on while we was ere out

Not sure any of our moggys would have liked it & my last oriental wouldn't have liked the stress of it all tbh - but Flynn was fine

I googled pet friendly & then emailed to check

'Pet friendly' accommodation. They really mean dogs but once they've got over the shock of a 'cat' arriving, they've always been fine for us.

(I recall arriving at this massive - vair posh - hotel (end of season so cheaper ) and after settling Twoago in the room, was interrupted by a rather breathless young chambermaid who said, eagerly, that she'd been sent up by 'Chef' who had wondered whether HE would like a little breast of chicken lightly sautéed in some butter for his supper. Oh - and could she meet him? )

They've always been fine in their room with their tray etc and (of course) their BED. Never had an accident.

Their 'bed'?? what is this thing of which you speak....I am Flynn's bed, whichever part of me he chooses to sleep on!

my previous cat actually survived a temporary move to a small house while the builders sorted out a big leak - I'd forgotten that; she tried to stalk a deer in the field at the bottom of the garden path.....seemingly ignoring the size issue!

I think our cats would holiday fine with us, but we don't holiday!!! They are incredibly bonded but the boy would noisily wail on the journey unless we had them together in a large pen at which point I've no idea how we'd get the luggage in...

Thanks - this is really interesting and something I may have to consider if we're ever to go on holiday again!

I thanked her/'Chef' profusely for the offer of course. Anybody who foolishly thinks that hotels aren't really run from their kitchens has probably never worked in one!

mine happily holidayed this year as well. Previous cats were taken to my parent's house or looked after by them while I was on holiday. Two were fine with it but one wasn't keen ( but most animals have a sixth sense about my mother - think animals reacting to the vampire in a horror movie, while the humans still haven't noticed anything wrong with their new neighbour).

It's the two who were fine with it who would worry me then!

They were the cocky over-confident ones. They both died young. Cautious cat made it to 20. Current cat gave her a wide birth Christmas day, so have high hopes for him.
