Help, my Siamese needs an ASBO!

Have had my 18 month old Siamese for a little over a year now. She's, for the most part, pretty laid back, affectionate on her terms, massively attached to one of my older cats. However, since bringing home new kitten 2 weeks ago, Coco has turned into a delinquent Hmm she's like a sulky teenager! If she's not trying to kill the kitten then she's up the Christmas tree, pulling things over, following me around the house demanding attention and screeching at me if I dare to stop fussing her.
I appreciate she may be feeling left out since kitten arrived, but I've made a point of going out of my way to make sure she still gets the same amount of attention (if not more) as she always has. But it's no good. She's just jumped up on the bed, battered the poor kitten, so I told her off. She's stropped out of the room yowling in disgust and promptly gone to climb the Christmas tree. Again.
I have a feliway plug in and she's normally so good but I'm at a loss as to what to do with her atm. HELP!

I'm afraid that, in my experience, some Siamese - many Siamese in fact - will just not tolerate sharing with certain other cats. (They seem to be fine with dogs whom they generally regard as no-account big lumps.) I've been there recently.

I have 4 others that I had prior to Coco arriving... and shes fine with them! I'm wondering if it's just a jealousy thing!

Maybe she'll adjust. Maybe. There must be one Siamese that's laid back.

My concern would be more for the kitten. How is it taking the treatment? (I'd guess that the other cats are just avoiding her.)

I read the title and my first thought was "don't they all need an associate?" Pretty much every siamese I've come across has been a diva. Is she actually hurting the kitten or just giving them a bit of a bash?

Kitten hisses and spits back at her, she's a fairly feisty little thing, I think she can stand her own! She's definitely not hurting her, more trying to assert her authority I think!

PS - what was the kitten doing on the bed? That's Siamese territory so just asking for trouble.

Ah, Coco owns my daughters bed, the sofa and my chair. She's never been too keen on my bed, until of course, the kitten was on it. She's like a spoilt child who doesn't want to share her toys Grin

You're extra nice to her - so she goes to beat up the kitten because she can - and she reckons she'll get away with it.

You tell her off - so she goes to beat up the kitten because she's feeling all mean spirited and the kitten is smaller than her but intensely irritating.

Either way.................

Just for the record, I really did try with Seniorboy and The Lodger. The situation was deteriorating rather than improving though. Seniorboy - a typical Siamese who has taken routine and ritual to a high art form - despised and detested The Lodger. Sad

Coco has been spayed for nearly a year now and (rather disturbingly) kitten was already spayed when I picked her up.

Other cats are absolutely fine with the kitten, quite happy to indulge her kitten play or just ignore her.

Help, my Siamese needs an ASBO!

Ah cozie that's sad. I live in hope that these 2 will settle down, it's only been a couple of weeks so i'll see if she improves. Seriously, ASBO is more hard work than a 2 year old!

Good luck with that.

It can be incredibly difficult to get a siamese to accept a newcomer. Been there. Didn't work.

She's a beautiful menace! Taken herself off to my dds bed with Max (my 9 year old moggie she absolutely idolises) and is sulking!

My Siamese is a rescue (via his breeder). He had gone to family and then sadly due to death had to be rehomed. His 1st rehoming was with another family with cats. Ouch - he became a bully and had to be rehomed again. 4 years on he has managed the neighbourhood cats into shape, conducts territorial war with my near teenage son and is still not that settled. We've made progress, not that you would know. I sometimes think how lovely it would be to get another cat but I wont. He has to be top cat. Fine, he can be! But I have wrecked stair carpet and sofa and I am not sure felliway has made a jot of difference.

Let her sulk. Don't go looking for her with taste treats and extra love. You'll already know that they respond well to routine so best not to make any big deal out of her right now. Stick to as normal as you can make it.
