Our new kitten

Here is our handsome new kitten. He's a 6 month old Sokoke...

He only has his breed name, so any ideas for a name originating from Kenya

He's beautiful

Never heard of that breed before

Kenyan names...the obvious comes to mind. Simba

Isn't he gorgeous! Very worthy of a special name. These are a few Kenyan names I have found. I really like Kito or Nema.

Habib - beloved
Hodari - strong/powerful
Ikeno - joy
Jamba - hero
Kamari - moonlight
Kiama - magic
Kito - precious jewel
Moyo - heart
Nema - born during prosperous times
Saruna - means kitten but is generally a girls name
Shani - marvelous/wonderful
Tabia - one of good character
Tamu - sweet/delightful
Tian - respect

I love Tamu from that list - suits him perfectly!

He's going to be a holy terror with small rodents. (From the look on that face.) I wouldn't give him a name that's too nice.

A word to the wise. Firstcat came from the days when there were so few Siamese around that they all had native names - and he was the exact opposite of his pedigree name in character. What is his breed name when translated?

My little Devon Rex came with the name (insert breeder) Corrigan. I can only imagine they named him after Mark Corrigan from Peep Show. Which kind of fits him. I changed his name to that of a musician, in a geeky sort of band.

Thanks everyone for suggestions. The kids have gone with a variation on his pedigree name. He is a beautiful cat and settling in so well with the others.
