Help with a greedy but fussy bugger

So the cat that lives in my house will only eat gourmet Perle pouches (4 a day) and occasionally the mini gourmet pouches or the soup pouches. Problem is he is pestering for food less than an hour after being fed.
Cant have biscuits since he had most of his teeth out 18 months ago.
I'm getting to the end of my tether with him. I'm on maternity leave and his lordship spends most of the day pestering me or scratching to go out of the living room, then come back in, then go out again.
So any ideas on what to do. The vet said hes on the more plump side and actually advised us to only give 3 pouches. I gave in after listening to his meowing all the time.

As I'm sure you know wet food it mainly water so it doesn't really fill them up. Has your vet said he can't have dried food? One of my elderly cats had most of his teeth out and my vet told me they don't really chew there food anyway so dried is still ok.

I can't offer much help but I found my cats would wait in front of there bowls and meow at certain ones of the day when they're not even hungry (6am,7pm and 9pm), they'd just get into routine and my partner would give in and feed them there wet food whenever they meowed. It only took him going away for 3 nights for me to break the habit and completely change them over to just dried food, so maybe a couple of days of not giving in to feeding when he meows may break the habit?

If you use Applaws dry food you can soak it in warm water and it goes nice and soft,my cat loves that and it's a very high meat content so satisfying.

To be honest I wouldn't bother with the soup pouches they're just a broth and they're very expensive for what they are, I agree you could try softening some dried food :)

I agree about the cat soup but some came free with the regular food and his lordship bloody loves them so dp still buys them.
We did try with dry food in the months after he had his teeth out and he just wouldn't eat it.
He is incredibly fussy. We've tried so many different types of food and always end up back at the perle stuff. He's old now (although how old is unclear) so I feel bad when he's really meowing. Might give the applaws food a go.

If you're not already make sure you're giving him senior food :)

What's the difference? Apologies for my ignorance it's just I've never had cat. This one is dps and is the most anti social being ever. He basically just lives in our house and eats our food.

Senior food is more tailored to there needs, so for example an adult cat will burn fat more quickly and needs more protein when as an older cats metabolism has slowed down and they're less active, so senior food contains less protein and slower burning fats. It'll also have added joint support.
Not all brands make a senior food, if this is the case look for an alternative brand(a fussy cat may protest but will eat when hungry you should try for at least a week without offering alternative or original food), it's important for his weight and joints and possibly will help him eat less. I'm surprised your vet didn't mention it to you!

Have you tried wet food with a higher meat content? Might keep him satisfied longer.

Ah ok. The vet never mentioned anything , can't say our experience with her was the greatest, she told dp off keeping him as an indoor cat. But we live in a main road and dp just sort of acquired him 8 years ago after he'd had 3 owners and was skin and bones so he is overprotective of him.
So now I'm open to suggestions for a fussy sod whose tried pretty much every brand and every time has to come back to the perle. He likes the ocean delicacies one in gravy best so something akin to that would be fab.

Does Purina One have a senior range? I think he used to like that.

I swear my baby is easier to care for than the cat.
