She's helping decorate the tree...

That looks very helpful indeed Xmas Wink. She is lovely but I am biased towards B&W cats.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/12/2016 23:27

Has she climbed it yet.

Puffinitee · 04/12/2016 00:29

Nope, just chased the beaded chains and the lights as we were putting them up.

I've thought long & hard about what to put up this Christmas. There's only me lives here and I usually just do a tree anyway, but since the overlords arrived the living room has been re-organised a bit and there's now a massive cat tree where a decent sized Christmas tree should go.

I also get the feeling that Girlcat would wreck any tree with dangly bits and eat any tinsel or similar, and Boycat would be completely traumatised for days then manage to knock it over (probably on top of himself) if and when he finally gets the courage to investigate.

So I've compromised, and ordered a little 2 foot fibre optic tree that can sit on the table. No dangly bits for Girlcat to kill or eat, and hopefully small enough to Boycat isn't terrified.

I'm really worried about getting a tree this year. None of my previous cats have climbed them but the 2 rescues I've now got are a bit more boisterous than they were. If PuffinCat hasn't climbed it them maybe it'll be OK 🤔

LivingInMidnight · 04/12/2016 10:45

(I really want a decent sized tree)

Puffinitee · 04/12/2016 14:09

I am slightly miffed about PuffinCat's lack of interest in the tree. We have lots of pretty (glass) decorations but we went out to buy plastic ones because we were certain she'd bat at themConfused. Oh well, good job we went to PoundlandSmile

Give her time, she'll be laying under there batting them soon! I can live with batting (other cats did do that!) it's the climbing I'm worried about. I think I read somewhere that it's the fake trees they climb but I don't know how true that is.

Weedsnseeds1 · 04/12/2016 22:44

Not had too many problems with previous cats, one climbed the tree a bit when a kitten. However I seem to have acquired a 7Kg kitten at the beginning of the year and I'm a bit worried he'll decide the tree must die. I may go for only putting the shatterproof decorations to start with and see how he reacts!

Puffinitee · 04/12/2016 22:55

I got the tinsel out tonight, I have never seen her so protective over anything before! It was a real challenge getting it off her!

Sad nooooo Hettie that's what I'm worried about!

weeds mine isn't that big (is it a lion cub??) but she definitely acts like a kitten.

puffin maybe I could give the cats an old manky bit of tinsel as a distraction 🤔. Did you get it back?

I think I'll get a 3 foot potted one Xmas Sad

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/12/2016 17:55

living I think he's part bear! He was supposed to be about 2 when I got him in February, but certainly doesn't act it. This is the aftermath of the curtain climbing incident not long after we got him!

Weeds Xmas Shock. Are you sure you didn't acquire a leopard??

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/12/2016 18:25

He's just a bit boisterous at times....

LivingInMidnight · 05/12/2016 20:45

weeds I really don't think you should get a tree Xmas Shock. Bear/leopard hybrid!

Northernlurker · 05/12/2016 20:57

Mia has never climbed our (real) trees. She likes a bit of bauble bashing. My parents old cat, Jess, used to a) wee on tree if he could and b) eat the tinsel strands which could then be seen protruding from his bottom a few days later.

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/12/2016 21:21

What's the worst that could happen? I'll just avoid the glass ones at first. He's a good boy.

LivingInMidnight · 05/12/2016 22:07

He's enormous! & gorgeous Xmas Smile

Vinorosso74 · 05/12/2016 22:52

That's a lot of cat!! I can see how destruction happens when he's boisterous but he looks quite innocent on that photo.

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/12/2016 16:16

Tree complete with sacrificial baubles has been up for 2 days with no interest now, so I'm going to add the glass ones. Or maybe that's what he wants me to do?
Has yours lost internet in the tinsel yet puffin?

Beewhisperer · 11/12/2016 16:20

Little miss is worryingly interested but just too damn cute to tell off!

LivingInMidnight · 11/12/2016 17:40

Weeds this is an elaborate ploy to smash your glass baubles! He can probably reach them wherever you put them.

I've got a tree. It's small, potted and in the garage at the minute. Will probably put it up on Friday.

Bee that's an adorable picture!

Beewhisperer · 11/12/2016 18:33

She is rather adorable but gets away with murder because if it. I would love to make cards out of the pic but you can see how bloody filthy my carpet was on it. Shock
