Good chip operated catflap that doesn't need a mains connection?

That's it really, just wondered what people's experiences were. Second 4 am catfight on the landing last night :( (despite having - much to both cats disgust - moved over to just doling out food am & pm, and not leaving out a bowl of dry food )

We've got a sureflap and never had any problems

Thanks Strawberry. I've been resisting it but I (and probably even more my cats) am getting a bit sick of 4am yowling.

Sure flap I have had one for over ten years now. Just need to remember to watch for batteries to be replaced.

Another sure flap here. The local ginger tom looks befuddled when he sees the snowcats going in and out yet can't get in himself. He used to regularly come in and help himself to their food and cause a fight.

They're expensive but so worth it to stop the other cats coming in and eating mines food and chasing her in her own home. Never regretted it.

We have sure flap too, it's brilliant, has stopped my temperamental tortie weeing in awkward places due to unwanted visitors.

We have this too and it's worked really well. I was worried that it wouldn't open fast enough when they race in when being chased but it does.

Only downside I've found is that when the cats sit in front of it to look out on to the world it clicks open and closed, which I find annoying, especially when I'm still in bed. Some of the cats have found the clicking a little unnerving but they've all got used to it (I foster rescue cats so we have quite a few coming and going, some of which have outside privelidges).

We have 2 cat flaps on the front and back door and the one at the back is a different brand but that's fine too. I was concerned that the sureflap one would be too small for our giant boy cats, but they get through fine, even though it looks like a tight squeeze. Maybe study the features of the different models.

The non sureflap one we have doesn't have selective exit, so you can't programme it to keep one in if it can't go out for any reason, but the sureflap one does.

I don't think racing through is going to be a problem - small-cat likes to sit in front of the catflap and tap it with her paw a few times before actually venturing in or out, and big-cat just goes up on the roof and spits in case of disagreements. I hadn't realised you could do selective in/out - that's really helpful, sometimes I do need to keep one or other in.
