Litter tray position

Hello, new cat owner here (well, will be when we collect our rescue). We plan to keep the cat in the kitchen (with cat flap to garden once she has settled) but I'm bit sure if having her litter tray in the kitchen is a good idea? She'll have a bed and her food and water there, too.

Any tips? Many thanks!

Obviously she will be allowed in the rest of the downstairs area once settled.

My two have theirs in the kitchen. It was very close to their food bowls. They didn't mind. Moved their food into the hall when I was stupid enough to pay £20 for a fish shaped bowl that didn't fit in the kitchen

I've always put ours in the bathroom or downstairs loo. Where everyone else goes! :D

It makes sense....and it's usually quiet, which cats prefer. Once you show them where it is, they find it ok.

I think anywhere other than a bathroom or toilet would be ok. The problem with bathrooms is that they are frequently locked and it's never a good idea to put a closed door between your cat and her tray.

As long as tray is not too close to feeding area, should be fine. And I always have more than one water source scattered about for them (2 cats, 3 water bowls).

We've bought all the stuff now and have a covered litter tray in a corner of the kitchen diner. Her bed is under the table, by the radiator and her food and water bowls are along the wall about five feet away.

DC unbelievably excited. So am I! Had long involved chat about litters and have a decent clumping one that locks in odour.
