Something on my cats head?! Help!

I was just brushing my cat when I noticed a tiny bump on his head. I had a look and under his fur is a tiny black thing?! It feels hard so I don't think its a tick, its also really small. My dp thinks it might be a thorn but I'm not sure.

It doesn't feel like it should be there and seems stuck?!

Any ideas?

It could be a scab. Vets sell tick removers, it's the only safe way to get them out.

If it is a tick would the vet get it out for me if I took him?

They might, ring first and ask how much though.

Could also be a scratch from an altercation with another cat. These are more likely on the head than elsewhere, and the only ones you can see are on their ears / nose. It might well be a scab from a small dispute. I shouldn't worry.

Could well be a tick. They are minute when they latch on, (size of a money spider) before they become engorged to resemble a grey sweetcorn kernel.

Is he due fleaing? And does his flea treatment eliminate ticks? If he's due a treatment, put one on him now, but don't use it if he's not due one, iykwim? Otherwise too many chemicals in the system.

If it is a tick you can remove it by soaking a cotton wool ball in alcohol and putting on top of the tick for a few minutes, you can then remove the tick with tweezers. It should come off easily, almost falling off. They are large (when engourged with blood and have long legs). Alternatively take to vet and there is an instrument they use to remove it.

Alternatively it could be a scab.
