Not using the litter tray anymore..

Our girl (4) goes in and out as she pleases, via a cat flap. She has always used the litter tray for both wees and poos and in fact used to come back in to use it and then go straight back out again. However, for the past few weeks she hasn't used it once. She definitely isn't going in the house, so must have decided to go outside now.

I prefer it this way, but am curious as to why, after 4 years, things have changed! Any ideas??

It's nice to go outside when the sun is warm and the air is fresh. Not so pleasant when it's rainy and windy and arse-freezingly cold. Don't be too quick to ditch the tray, it might well come back into favour as the weather cools down...

Yes. She's become used to outside, maybe she's also TopCat now so doesn't worry so much about going - and the earth is dry, warm and friable. I'd agree with Rat though. Keep the litter tray going 'in case'.

Thanks! Am definitely not getting rid of the tray.. much as I hate cleaning it out it is preferable to scrubbing carpets!

Cozietoesie - you could be right. She was terrorized for ages by a local tom but I haven't seen him lately.
