Why does cat piss smell sooo awful and be so difficult to rid things of its cloying stink. The cat had pissed on expensive dogs beanbag which is covered in wipeable material but will just not go! Help! What advice anyone? Sure this must be a common topicGrin

It would take to dry cleaners but its full of poly beans. Loose ones or I woild have emptied out and washed. Thinking there's a spray on the marlet or something like soda and bicarb or similar

Nature's miracle is good for getting cat pee out.

VimFuego101 · 26/09/2016 00:10

It may have got all the way through to the beans though... In which case you might just have to bin it.

Shriek · 26/09/2016 00:18

Ah thanks i'll look into that. Yea was thinking probs a lost cause.

There's a mould killer for about a pound sold in green bottles. It seems a weak enough bleach to not whiten most fabrics but does rid the cat wee smell. Use with caution though

I was advised bio washing powder and if that failed white vinegar and baking powder.

chemenger · 26/09/2016 08:21

Bio washing powder made in a strong solution does work, you would need to soak the beanbag then leave it for as long as possible before rinsing. We used this around a flat which had had 17 indoor cats in it before we moved in. This is cheaper for a big area than Nature's Miracle.

Thanks for ideas. Yes someone else mentioned bicarb too and also vinegar. I think i ight try a mix of things including the hanging out. Apparently there's simerhing you can add to stop the hydro peroxide whitening fabrics. At the moment its sitting under the shower being threatened with a soaking. Now think i'll have a go at these various suggestions first

We got this urine neutraliser from Amazon, just doused the sofa in it and the cats stopped using it as a litter tray. I feel your pain, its very annoying!

Shriek · 26/09/2016 20:26

Thanks for the vote of sympathy mrsjamin. Its a real pisser! Really hoping I can get it out I may as well try everything before throwing it out
