how does your cat get your attention?

my cat has a method of waking me which drives me mad/is extremely effective. First, he licks my face gently, if this doesn't work then he jumps onto the chest of drawers next my bed and shuffles things such as jewellery or other bits and pieces around. The next stage is to find a piece of newspaper, a book, or his 'piece de resistance' a plastic bag, and pats it repeatedly until I give in. If i really want a lie in i have to clear the room of potential resources the night before.

he's so lovely though, i can't hold it against him.

It's a plastic bowl with a lip that permits flipping.

Prowls around my bedroom at night knocking objects off surfaces - coins, tubes of lip balm, my watch - anything I have forgotten to put away. I think she does this for her own amusement, not to wake me.

A few days ago DS heard her pummeling a big brown paper bag that was in the kitchen, and since the scuffling sound was going on for a good while he decided to investigate, only to find her with her head caught in one of the handles, turning somersaults trying to get out . DS cut the handle with a scissors and she bit him .

The bengal repeatedly bashes the living room door like she's trying to use a battering ram to get through. The Benjamin Button of the cat world one walks over my face, whilst singing the "I'm really lost and can't find anyone" song. We forgive her because she's a few sandwiches short of a picnic these days, despite being in the best nick ever physically. We are slaves to our furry overlords here.

Plonk himself on my chest and meow very loudly in my face, if I ignore him I get the headbutt cuddles.... I can't resist them and he damn well knows it.

They both will come up and put a paw on my arm. Well brought up and that

Oh and the staring. The staring works very well indeed.

idiotcat is not always allowed in the bedroom, he likes to rake the chairs and chaise, and likes to be entertained if he is bored with sleeping.

If he is ignored he goes through staring at you while you sleep from >< away, purring directly into your ear, and then onto standing on you or just poking

Should none of that work he will bounce himself from the bed to my dressing table, rummage about to claw the curtain so he can get behind it and into the windowsill and miaow at all the things he can see and then burst back into the room through the curtains like the alien launching itself from John Hurt's torso

An autumn speciality is to move up to my pillow and then noisily groom himself and spit out the sticky willies.

His sister sleeps the sleep of the righteous in one of her many secret hidey holes. She has had enough of his shit.

we tried to encore it but he will go on indefinitely .Hes gone on for a hour so far.

Boy cat head butts me in the legs repeatedly until I feed him. If I'm asleep he yowls if he wants out.

Girl cat 1 pats me with her paw. Very gently. She's a very sweet cat.

As if I get a chance to put my attention anywhere other than my glorious overlord.

Boycat just jumps up and headbutts/licks/puts himself in the way of anything and everything that might be of interest.

If we're asleep, girlcat puts her paws under the duvet and attacks our feet. If not she walks in and shouts at us - she can't meow, it's just a really high pitched squeaky shout.

Hunts my legs. Never in malice but an unexpected stones worth of Siberian tiger play-pouncing on your calf is no errand for the faint hearted.

One pats my face with his very large paw until I give in and the other puts his paw out, sticks out one claw and pokes me with it.

Our female licks our headboard of our bed. Very annoying and kinda weird, sounds like somebody sand papering the headboard. The boys just get under our feet and stare at us until we feed them.

Thankfully my cat doesn't wake me up on purpose, she tried when I first got her but my plan of pretending not to wake up seems to have worked and she seems to have given up.

The only time she wakes me up is if shes trying to get under the duvet, shes not the brightest of cats and can't figure out how to get under by herself and just paws at the cover till the magic duvet lifting fairies let her in.

To get attention she either wraps herself round my legs till I trip over her or very gently stretches out her cute fluffy paw and strokes my face.

BigFurry miaows and squeaks and gets in my way. When it was just him and me and he slept on my bed, he would wake me in the morning by stroking my face with his paw. LittleFurry prefers the indirect approach; jumping on top of the wardrobe and pushing all the shoe boxes and photo albums down until somebody leaps out of bed swearing. We no longer have cats in bedrooms at night.

In our old house one of them used to get on the open window and balance and then jump onto the bed. Wakes you up with a start.

Our cats are incredibly polite (due to formal wear?). They sit by their food bowls merely looking dejected for as long as it takes. If one wants out he asks "prrr-up?", the other sits on my lap, beams at me, and purrs until o grasp this means "I'd like to go out please." Our last cat was not so polite & would utter loud, cheery "MRRR-ack!!" noises for most situations.
