Poor boy, he's just nearly six years old, noticed today at lunchtime that his breathing was very laboured (had been fine at breakfast time and eaten his share of a pouch), took him to emergency vet, fluid on lungs and around heart, various investigations and he has a growth on a heart valve which the vet has never seen before. He's sedated from investigations and the vet said the best prognosis was possibly 'some months of life' with lots of interventions and teatments, so we've asked that he be euthanised while he's under sedation already. I cannot bear the thought of him being medicated and having lots of visits to,the vet which always stressed him out so much, so it's better to do it now.
He was a lovely boy, fantastic friend to my DC, always cuddled up to the warmest person n the couch (and the dog!) so sad, but glad that he was well this morning and it came on suddenly, no drawn out suffering or at least any that we knew about.
Heartbroken. Cuddle your cats tonight for me.
