Well she's here! Only just coming up to 6wks (mum was run over and killed then the litter was abandoned at the vets). They started her on whiskas kitten food once they got her on food, but how much should she be eating a day? She's always shouting at me for food! Currently eating about one sachet a day squashed up with some water. Also want to change to something better...do you just start doing that gradually with the new food mixed with the old?

And she likes the dog's bed more and has kicked her out! Poor doggy!

She's a confident little miss! And very pretty as well.

Don't change her food yet, our kittens ate 2 pouches a day from 8 weeks. We didn't add any water to it either, let her settle then gradually start to change her food. She's stunning.

I think you can probably get away with giving her 2 sachets a day if she's always crying for food.

For switching to a different brand, I found this on a website:-

Begin the transition by mixing both the current food with her new cat food together. Gradually decrease the amount of the current cat food while increasing the amount of new cat food. Continue to do this over a 7-day period. Transitioning slowly can result in fewer digestive issues and better acceptance of the new cat food.

shes still young i would be giving her kitten formula as well as wet food.I think pets at home did ready made kitten milk i would heat up luke warm and feed with a oral syringe.I once got a kitten at 6 weeks she enjoyed it .I stopped at 8 weeks

she is so sweet the little face forgot to mention you said you wanted better food.Yes slowly introduce it or she will get runny tummy,by slowly adding small amounts of new food to old very slowly taking away old over 2 weeks.

Try giving her cold cuts of poultry meat. You can buy from supermarket deli, or in pre-packed form, i.e. Bernard Matthews. I've kept multiples of cats for 50 yrs and each group of cats seem to like different things to the previous group.

You could try making her some chicken soup. A small piece of chicken breast with skin ON. Cook it in water, add finely diced potatoes until soft and disintegrated. The fat of the skin should flavour the water. Cool, take out chicken & cut it up, serve with some of the soup.

She has got a really runny tummy all the time bless her-nothing solid so far. And she cries so much when she needs to go,& then keeps crying till she's done 😢

And yes she is gorgeous, but I think she knows that...!

I will add a word of warning, I had a cat with that colouring, it is the exact colouring of shadow under trees/bushes. I watched mine practically disappear, I could only see her eyes.

The warning bit is that this means it is very easy for them to hunt. Get used to saying thank you for birds, mice, moles and the occasional rat.

She's very cute. I'd start switching her onto a better-quality food now. If her tummy is constantly really runny then what she is on at the minute isn't working for her so I wouldn't be so worried about changing it. Someone also gave me some really good advice once to not feed one brand or type exclusively but to rotate a few that your cat likes so that in the event of one being discontinued or a huge price hike you aren't going to be stuck with a cat with an upset stomach or refusing to eat anything.

VERY cute. And looks full of herself . Diarrhea is not unusual in kittens but hopefully the vet can give something to firm her up. How is she now?

Her weight has increased and is now 0.41kgs! Vet said he had seen hamsters who were bigger! Wormed her today, so hopefully that will help with the runny poo.

We talked about food and he agreed that whiskas was shit and to wean her off v slowly onto better stuff-thank you for the tip on waitrose pouches. Am used to having to buy the good stuff-devil dog is on canagan which is £70 for a 12kg bag! And have bought her some dry stuff and will soak it.

Is kitten milk useful?

some kitten milk will help her put on weight good for until 8-9 weeks.Canagan is very good dog food but you can get cheaper for just as good

i feed porta 21 sensible dry to my adult cats so have a look on there for some kitten food they have a great selection.Just dont use yodel for delivery .

Hopefully the worming will help with her runny toileting!
I would also suggest kitten milk - at this age she can survive on kitten food but milk will still be useful to her. We used to just pour it into a bowl for her and it would be gone in no time! Though she would usually fetch and drop her toy tiger in it half way through. As pp suggested I would warm it up. (We didn't give it a thought at first, til we noticed her shivering each time we gave it to her).

I'm not sure if it is the same for such tiny kittens, but we took in an abandoned cat. She had diarrhoea. The vet wormed her, she had an enormous poonami explosion and then was absolutely fine. Just to warn you!
