A few years ago we had a DCat who had intestinal cancer. We were told the prognosis after an operation was pretty good, but she would need to be feed via feeding tube in her neck for a while afterwards.
We had to mix up liquid food, get it to just the right temperature, and slowly syringe it in to her feeding tube, then flush with water, and then do same with liquid antibiotics and crushed tablets. The whole rigmarole took about an hour and a half and we had to repeat it 3-4 times a day. To squeeze this in around work we did the last feed around midnight then started again at 6am.
We kept this up for 6 weeks - a couple of times it looked like she was rallying, then worsened and she finally died the night before we had planned for her to be put to sleep.
With hindsight the whole thing was barmy, we should have let her go earlier but we really loved that cat and held out hope right to the end The first time I ever saw DH cry - really sob - was the night she died.
Anyway, anecdote over - has anyone gone to equally extraordinary lengths for a cat?
