help my cats gone missing..:(

Hello, my little baby boy disapeared out of thin air on the 27th aug... 10 days... im absalutly distraught im lost...i really dont no what else i can do, hes not neutered and he didnt have hes collar on :( hes never been out more than 2 days MAX, its just not like him, ive searched and search with no luck iv phoned all the vets local to me, and ive spread the word via facebook (my local lost and found pets page) im honestly in bits... hes been my little friend since he was born been through alot with me, i suffer from depression and anxiety that i had under control before he vanishished now i cant seem to function.. im trying i really am i dont no what else to do, has anybody got any tips to get him home or stories? Please no cruel comments ino he should of been neutered its something i never believed in, i do now realise i was wrong... i miss him so much, and its more unbearable by the day...im terrified to think what hes going through in the big bad world, thank you

Awww I really feel for you - my cat used to be a wanderer. Started as a couple of days and gradually increased until a couple of weeks was the norm. He went for 10 months once and we had given up hope but one day got a call from the vets. He had been hit by a car really not far from home at all. Once he was on the mend after having his leg amputated and we started letting him out again, he carried on disappearing. Turns out he was going to the local perfume factory but nothing we did would stop him - he really hated being shut in and I just couldn't see him indoors all miserable. We eventually moved about a mile up the road and the little wotsit still went to the factory! This time though he only went on 2 occasions: once we got a call to go and fetch him (the factory had our number on speed dial by that point) and the second time he came back by himself. After the second time he has never done it again and that was almost 5 years ago now. He is neutered by the way so it doesn't necessarily stop them wandering. We put up loads of posters and put an ad in local paper which was funded by the pet insurance (worth checking your policy). Really hope he comes home soon and hope my story gives you some hope that he will return

A friend had her cat go missing for about three weeks recently and he came back as though nothing had happened.
Have you contacted your local cats protection? Thrum at be able to spread the world for you.

Thinking of you, I hope he comes back very very soon. He's very cute.

Second putting up posters, particularly as he could be in a neighbour's shed who has been away over the Bank Holiday and didn't realise he was in there.

Ive called cat protection all the loal vets and some, ive done posters also, ive got all the neighbours looking too, hes a very warey and a big scardy cat he doesnt really like people just the hand few that he noes and trusts, hes a good little hunter tho hes brought me plenty of "presents" so ino he can look after hes self at dinner time, im not sure how far he could of gone being away for so long..... i thought he might of been locked in somewere at first especially since it was bank holiday... im not to sure now tho...

I'm sorry I do hope he comes home soon.

Perhaps he got a scent of a female or perhaps he is not feeling well. My cat disappear for a week and came back unwell with a really bad throat infection. Sometimes they do take themselves off when not well. I knocked on every single door in my road and the roads off this one, asked everyone to check outbuildings.

Keep calling him and take the posters to vets and make sure all cat rescue places near you have his photo.

Hoping you get some good news.

Have you tried putting his litter tray outside? Something that smells strongly of home

One horrid task that Cats Protection suggested to me when my fella went missing one holiday was to call the local council cleansing department, as they deal with reports of animals at the side of the road. It's really grim, and I put off doing it for ages and ages, but it did at least give me some comfort and hope that he was going to come back

Cats can smell a female in heat from a very long way away indeed. Unneutered toms go following the smell and end up lost (or killed crossing busy roads). This is why the vast majority of stray cats are unneutered toms.

At least you know why he's missing. He is less likely to be accidentally shut in a shed or garage for example than a missing cat without good reason to disappear. So that should probably be some sort of comfort.

You may have to cast your net a long way away to find him though. Try Streetlife if you haven't already. Put posters far and wide. I hope you find him.

Ive rung the council done all that im guna make himna den tonight with hes carry case blanket litter and food and stuff hopefull that will draw him home, ino he wouldnt of got nocked down hes scared of care he only has to see 1 and hell run he usually stays in on a day time and goes out at night.. whats streetlife? Thanks every1 for your comments i still feel like i wanna die if im honest... i cant believe this is happening....

Well you have called the Council so hopefully that is the case. Unneutered toms chasing a female in heat though act in ways they wouldn't normally. It's quite frightening to see the chase. The female is running as fast as she can to get away and there are normally a group of males running after her in a sort of V formation. None of them pay any attention to traffic or anything else - it's something that seems to entirely take over their brain.

Streetlife is an online local forum. I think it's nationwide but I'm not sure www.streetlife.com/ You get lots of lost/found pet notices on there.

Jema have you tried putting the dust from your hoover bag outside, as well as litter tray etc? That gives him a good scent of home to follow. Sounds like you are doing lots to get the word out. I hope you find him.
The only other tip I could give is, if you have a local milkman or postman mention him to them as they might hear or see something as they go around the local area.

Allready told the postman and we have no milkman..... i think some 1 has took him out of spite i dont no who, but i really think that its really not like him to do this

I think that's unlikely. He was unneutered. He was going to go missing sooner or later. That's what happens with unneutered males. When they smell a female in heat they do all sorts of things that aren't like them. If you are lucky they find their way home again. If you (and they) are unlucky they don't.

That's why you need to put posters far and wide. He could have gone a very long way indeed.

Is he microchipped? As a PP said, calling refuse collection is a good idea (but sad), they ensure any dead/injured cats are scanned and reported to the owner.

As an entire Tom cat, he'll be used to getting into scraps and looking after himself, but as other posters have said, entire Toms are far more likely to wander far from home, so perhaps widen your search area.

When he comes home, shall you be neutering him?

Ive called them allready, ive also widened my search and plenty ppl no hes missing, i just dont understand it.... iv also called the vets shelters ect local and further afield,
Yes ill be neutering him why?

Hes home!!! He was spotted in a local building/house about 8 doors up from mine, it what used to be a housing office that is now unoccupied, he must of fell through the roof because there is no way possable he could of gotten in any other way as the full building has shutters on, anyway he was spotted in the top bedroom window trying to get heself out i got the call rushed down there (even after i got told our local butcher found him dead and buried him wich confirmed with the butcher) so anyway after climbingb3 fences a shed and 2 roofs i seen him through the very top window :D i some how managed to get him and climb down, he was stuck in there for i can only assume 3 weeks since he didnt come home, hes very thin and dirty but hes ok, just thought id let you all no, thanks for the advice an tips everybody hes been fed and had tons of water loads of cuddles still not finished giving him them and he cant stop meowing, he is weak too hes in the vets in the morning ill keep use updated xxx

So happy for you, this happened to me also. Mine had got into a shed.
Def get him neutered and chipped just in case he would every stray seeking a 'girlfriend'.

I hope you are now feeling much better in yourself. x
