Harry's off to the vet again

He hasn't eaten a full meal since Saturday and I'm wondering if his mouth is playing up again. I put wet and dry food down for him this morning and he's eaten some of the wet but not all. He tried to eat the biscuits but DH said he was getting them out of the bowl one at a time, dropping them on the floor and then trying to eat them. He prefers the biscuits to his wet food so I'm not suprised he tried them but he's taken himself off to bed now.

Achh. Is he evacuating OK? (If you know)

He seems to be. He's used his tray a couple of times so I think everything is OK there.

DH is doing a lot of work in the garden and we thought he was upset about that to start with but I don't think so as usually he likes to 'help' DH. He's a nosy git! Harry that is, not DH!

Maybe his mouth isn't so good, then. You'll be keeping a close eye on him?

Definitely. I'll see what the vet says tonight and then take it from there. I've got a delivery of Country Hunter coming tomorrow so he's OK for soft food and I've added some Butchers Classic to keep the cost down in case he has to go on soft food for a while.

Fingers crossed he doesn't need any more teeth out, poor little man.

Yes. Country Hunter is a firm favourite now with Seniorboy but, unfortunately, not with my CC.

We're back from the vet. Harry's teeth are fine, apart from some mild gingivitis, but he has a slight temperature. He's had antibiotic and anti inflammatory injections and we've got to take him back in a couple of days if there's no improvement.

When we got back I put down a bowl of Country Hunter and a bowl of James Wellbeloved (stinky) fish biscuits. He doesn't usually get both but I thought I'd give him a choice as he's been poorly. He only licked the juice of the meat but most of the biscuits have gone and he's now asleep under the table.

I seem to recall that a bit of mild gingivitis is not uncommon in cats. Clearly you won't want it to get worse but that's not too bad given his recent history.

Seniorboy has just yelled at me for his evening 'pudding'. (Tonight it's some of the turquoise (liver?) Lick e Lix, spread out with a fork on the bottom of a bowl.) Now polished off completely in fact!

Do you think he's been fighting?.

Providing he's OK over the next few days we're taking him back in December for another check up so we can keep an eye on his teeth. All things considered I'm pleased it's only mild gingivitis.

I tried Harry on Lick e Lix - it is the most vile thing I have seen outside of Harry's litter tray! Luckily he didn't like it...

Fluffy, I really don't think he's been fighting. He rarely leaves the garden now and I don't think many cats come in and, if they do, Harry stares at them from indoors and then goes out when they are out of sight!

It is resoundingly disgusting, I agree. (And if I gave Seniorboy any sort of offal to eat by itself, he would flounce.) Beats me.
