How to keep cat off cooker

Hi

Just adopted two cats, they are settling in really well. But one of them has a fondness of jumping up onto the cooker (when it's off obviously). I'm trying to teach him not to by removing him every time I see it, but I'm not there all the time and I'm worried he'll jump up after I've been cooking and will burn himself.

Any ideas?

Layer of tinfoil? I've had to use it for all my big indoor pot plants. They don't like walking on it apparently.

I have no ideas for keeping cats off surfaces, but I always leave a pan or lid or such to cover the hot bit of the hob when I've finished with to protect paws.

Turfing him off when you see it is good, for when your not, read up on textures they don't like to walk on and see if you can cover the hob with that.

Unfortunately there isn't much else you can do, one of our most stupid cats did walk over the hob, while it was on, and set himself on fire! Luckily nothing major just a little singed, but it did blow the whole "surely his not that stupid" argument out the window!

I had an induction hob fitted. Gave up years ago trying to keep him off the worktop.
