Random cat came into my house, shit on the floor

So we have a nearly one-year-old cat and she nips in and out of the house at will via the catflap but never goes too far, just in the back garden. We come home today to find a massive shit in the hallway and can't find our cat. We're calling for her and this fat feline (not ours) runs down the stairs, races past us and out through the back flap.

We keep calling for our cat, my nine-year-old ds is absolutely panicking and in tears because we can't find her anywhere. She finally turns up, was hiding downstairs and is shaking, hissing and won't go in the house for a good hour. We clean all the solid floors in the house to get rid of poo and other cat smells and finally about 2 hours later our cat finally calms down and comes in.

Absolutely fuming, any suggestions re what to do about our massive feline invader greatly appreciated.

Get a SureFlap, they are so worth it! You programme your cat's microchip in to it so only your cat can get in.

looks like we have no choice. I have never felt so much rage towards a cat before! Our little moggy curled up asleep on the couch now bless her!

We used to have this big Tom cat come in and spray while we were out: it was horrible. My son named him David Cameron haha The only thing tha stopped him was a microchip cat flap: expensive but worth it.

That's exactly what happened to us! It was massive, has pooed and I'm pretty sure it's sprayed in more than one place, which is annoying because I think one place is on a heap of paperwork we had laid out to sort out. Our cat is still hissing when she goes past it so I'm pretty sure there is something there plus there's a slightly funky smell but we couldn't find anything when we got back so it must have dried Confused Shock.

It's horrible, feel like we've been burgled!!

Wipe over the walls about knee height with hot soapy water made up with bio washing powder. If he had sprayed will take away the smells

We had a problem with a male cat coming in and scaring our old cat, we thought it was the male cat doing his business but actually discovered it was our cat! Apparently they do this when they feel threatened in their own environment. Kind of like marking their territory. We had a microchip flap fitted and after a few nights she stopped, presumably because she felt safe again.
So I would definitely invest in a microchip catflap!

For tracking down the places weed on, get a UV light from Amazon, shine it around the house when it gets dark, and it will glow the places where this intruder cat has sprayed.

You can also buy special sprays for deodorising cat wee smells, I think the most recommended is Simple Solution.

Thanks all these are so useful - yes I think we've missed a bit because there's a corner of the hallway that our cat has started avoiding and she actually hisses when she goes past it, will try the bio trick first and then see how it goes. Horrible scary Tom was in the garden again today - we realised because we heard terrified/aggressive cat sounds and came running out. Our cat isn't liking this at all, she has taken to making really disturbing growling sounds and hissing, I'm a bit scared to comfort her tbh. I'm hoping it will pass as soon as she feels safe again. We have blocked up the cat flap for now and keeping her indoors unless we are around. She only ever goes in the garden anyway so hopefully she'll be ok while we sort the microchip flap.

Every time you see the Tom spray him with hose or throw water over him. He'll soon get the message!
