Dry Food?

I'm going away for a few days next week and DCat is being fed by dneighbour.

DCat normally eats a combination of dry and wet pouch food.

To save fuss/mess would it be acceptable to feed him dry food only for a few days?

I probably would but others might disagree. I'm thinking of doing that when we go on holiday later this year.

Would dry food cause dehydration, do you think?

For the first 8 years we had him, Harry only ate dry food - he wouldn't touch wet. We always made sure (and obviously still do) that there was always fresh water available, he had a bowl in the kitchen and another one in the garden as well as a tray of water.

He broke his jaw earlier this year and had no option apart from wet food but he still has dry for breakfast, lunch and supper and I'm sure he prefers it to the pouch!

Our older cat only eats dry food. She won't eat anything else. She drinks a fair bit and seems fine and dandy on it.

Little M will only eat dry. Just ask neighbour to change his water everyday, and buy in a good quality food. I give mine Applaws, 80% meat, no cereals/grains.. Definitely avoid Go-cat, which is at the opposite end of the scale nutritionally and can cause cystitis, especially in male cats.
