Any toy recommendations please?

Does anyone have recommendations for toys to help get my lovely rescue cat (9yrs old) pouncing again? She spends a lot of time indoors and has put on weight although does go outside too.

She's on a light dried food diet and I put some in a ball so that she has to move it to find food (usually its me rolling the ball for her…)

She runs away from 'feathers on stick' type toys and doesn't seem to want to jump up if I wave it above her but has 'killed' catnip filled toys and she has a knitted toy that she likes digging her claws into. The laser toy is losing its touch as she's twigged.

She's become a bit lazy (as have I about entertaining her!) I'd like to find ways to introduce play time for more exercise. The rescue centre said she is not suitable to live with another cat. I am worried she may be bored with not enough stimulation.

Are Kong toys good for cats? I know to rotate toys.

My two will only play with toys from a shop on etsy called clasicats. They are handmade and very robust. They love them.

I recommend a squeaky bird and a squeaky mouse on elastic that fixes to a door from Pets at Home. My cat Troy loved these toys. I used to put them away at night so he wouldn't disturb me but when my alarm clock went off he would rush into the bedroom and sit by the chest of drawers waiting for me to get them out. I had to restrict him playing with them because he had heart failure. Before he was diagnosed he never showed any interest in play.

Forgot to say the bouncy mousey didn't last long. He mauled it so much the squeak fell out and I had to sew it in a few times. He dropped the bird in his waterbowl the first time he had it and I had to dry it off to try to get it to work again, I was rubbing a cat's toy in a towel. I eventually put it in the airing cupboard and it freaked me out as it started to eerily come back to life in the middle of the night.

Flying Frenzy. Gets them jumping and a-leapin'. Not so much in this warm weather though.

Oh, and mine love their Kong Kickeroo. They can practice their rabbit kicks on them, and it's hilarious watching them attempt to get the thing through a crack in the door horizontally. After kicking the crap out of it, they usually fall asleep cuddling it, probably because it has catnip inside.

Well Toddler, I took your recommendation on the Clasicat toys.

Heard a rustling, and thought, oh, it's just little M rooting around in the waste-paper basket.

Found ripped open packaging, MCat being the culprit - he'd ripped through the thick plastic packaging to get at the toys. After much head rubbing, drooling and shuffling like a caterpillar, he spent the afternoon blissed out on his back. Little M got a bit hyper.

Both toys (rabbit and bird) were a bit gooey from cat dribble.

Botanic, you could always try one of these, if it doesn't scare the bejeezus out of you.
