Cleaner not listening. (Lone, please respond)

I have employed a cleaner, and asked her on many occasions to put down the lid of the toilet, after pouring loads of chemicals down it, and explained that Little M drinks out the toilet bowl.

Today I found the toilet lid open, with bright blue toilet cleaner in it. Little M is very sleepy, but hasn't been sick or anything.

Should I call the OOH vets, to see if he should be seen by them? Would the strong chemical smell put him off drinking it?

What is in the loo cleaner? Most commonly ammonia type substances if this is the case, yes you need to see the out of hours vet as these substances can cause ulceration of the mouth and stomach. Take the product with you to the vet.

Oh ffs. Has he been sick?.

Rang OOH vets, and she said check his paws and mouth for ulceration/redness (none), and see how he ate. No signs of ulceration or redness in mouth or paws. He's just wolfed down some Applaws biscuits, and even some Butchers Classic.

He's back to his usual fronty little self, it was just that both of them spent the day snoozing, but it's only Little M who drinks out the toilet, and after spying the blue goo - I panicked.

No, he hasn't been sick Fluffy, I nearly was, still feel sick now.

Time to put the feelers out for a new cleaner... stupid woman I can't remember how many times I've asked her to put the fucking bog seat down after pouring toxic substances into it.

I would be sorely tempted to ring her and tell her the cat is dead, just to get the point over. Get a different cleaner and possible a different method of toilet cleaning.

Can you not do the loo yourself and advise her accordingly?

I'd probably just find a new cleaner.

I do the loo myself, Cozie, hope I'm not being too blunt, but I don't want a stranger cleaning my skiddies! But she does it anyway, but doesn't empty the wast-paper baskets

If you're telling her seat she might be confused? You've alternately said seat and lid?

Maybe try the Method Spearmint toilet cleaner, as its non toxic. In case she leaves it up again?

I'd get the masking tape out and (temporarily) shut the loo off from her. (I'd also be looking around for someone else but you may have an interim period to get through.)

Why use toxic chemicals at all ?

She's from an agency, so should be easy to change to a different cleaner?

Speak to the agency. She appears to be doing her own sweet thing without a whole lot of regard for your wishes. After all, Little M may be fine - but it could have been a different story.

The fact u asked her to close it regardless of the reason is shocking! I am a cleaner and had a client who was into feng chui and I had to dust under every single pot /vase /ornament and face them a certain way every week!! I did it because in those hours I followed her instructions regardless of how bizarre they were!!

Brie, I meant leave the lid down, when there's any chemicals in there. Which I have requested many times, explaining that Little M likes drinking from the toilet. Not sure why she'd leave the toilet seat up, unless she's a man in drag. Not quite sure what you are gleaning from your pedantic remark. apart from being a goady twat

He's likely OK, Mantra, from the sound of it.

Your immediate concern ought to be to ensure he stays that way - from the loo at any rate.

When is she next due and could you speak to the agency before that?

Well maybe I'm a pushover Missgraeme, because when she leaves, I put all my ornamental bits and bobs where they were originally, and often sweep/mop the bathroom floor, where she's left grubby shoe-marks. She nearly always takes a piss in my toilet, after emptying the blue goo into it. And doesn't flush. I suppose as not to waste the blue goo doing it's work.

I'm not an arse to her either, I usually tip, and always thank her for the marvelous job she's done.

It's so difficult to get a cleaner round my way though. The potential poisoning of my little cat's the final straw I reckon.

Toilet cleaners tend to be soap based.

Some have a mild acid like lemon juice or vinegar. Some have bleach.

None of which are a huge problem diluted down the loo.

Which cleaner is it? Does it have ingredients on the packet?

So glad to hear little Monsieur is ok. Mine drinks from the toilet too so totally understand. I was livid when ours left the bleach out, cap off in the reach of a very curious cat. I had to explain that they are like toddlers.

Really, it's Harpic lime scale, which contains hydrochloric acid. That's what got me in a tiswas.

Little curly toilet drinker is fine, it was just the open toilet/chemical thing that got me all shaken.

I've got 2, the eldest (Black and white mog) looks on in disdain, while little pedigree Devon Rex drinks from the toilet.
