My friend is trying to trap a stray cat who she's found out has been left behind by his owners. She's contacted several charities for help and so far Cats Protection will lend her a trap but can't take him, Battersea will take him if she can trap him and a local rescue has agreed to come out and trap him but will PTS if he has feline leukaemia or if FIV+.
We know a FIV+ cat can live a good life but what about leukaemia? Is that an automatic PTS or could he be rehomed as an only indoor cat?
She's reluctant to let the rescue trap him in case he's PTS when it's not necessary but she's moving soon and doesn't just want to leave him. She can't have him as he's already badly attached her cat who is now terrified of him.
Hopefully he won't have either but as an unneutered abandoned Tom I know it's unlikely
Thanks in advance for any advice.
