Car sickness

My cat seems absolutely terrified in the car and is almost always sick. Any clues?

Sorry I can't help as I've one who is exactly the same, so I'd be interested if anyone has any ideas on how to stop it.
Last time he only went to the Vet for a checkup (for insurance), he was sick before we'd gone 3 miles (vet is 7 miles away) and followed that with a poo ! which he's never done before. Took him in first thing in the morning so maybe he was caught short, won't be doing that again. Confused
Think I may ask for a mild sedative when he has his boosters.

I wondered if a sedative might help. But also wondered whether putting her in a different place down on the floor or covering the cage /box might help.

Ours are a year old and hate the car. At the vet they have towels sprayed with a special calming spray. Draping this over the box seems to help. And I talk to them. They shout back!

2 of mine absolutely hate going in the car Sad

Last time we took just one to the cattery (young one, others staying st home with minders) we tried having him in front seat passenger's lap instead of in carrier.

In the space of under 30 minutes he panicked, panted, pooed, puked, weed, pooed again & then had diarrhoea Shock

The cats that don't mind the car just crouch silently in their carriers.

Our vet is a 2-minute walk away & they can all cope with that. Last holiday I had somebody come to the house instead...

Sedation might be a solution in future if your vet is handy & you will then have to drive a long way
