Raw chicken wings

I can cook them and strip the meat off but I wondered whether the raw meat and bones are good for his teeth and fun to gnaw and play with.

Raw meat fine, but don't chicken bones splinter and cause choking? I wouldn't.

gamerchick · 25/06/2016 20:14

It's a good place to start, as long as they're raw.

gamerchick · 25/06/2016 20:15

They're no good if they're cooked. Raw is fine though.

limitedperiodonly · 25/06/2016 20:19

Okay. A raw one it is. He's 14 and doesn't have many teeth left but loves to pretend to hunt and throw things about. Usually I give him a raw sprat or sardine and find its head hidden under the settee Grin.

He's just looked at me like WTF? and walked off. I'll cook it and give him the meat, but thanks for the advice. Back to the drawing board.

Heh mine did the same Grin it might not be appealing if he has few teeth. Still worth a shot.

cozietoesie · 25/06/2016 20:41

I'm OK with giving them raw and organic/free range. (Such chickens have a more standard bone formation which is less likely to splinter even though it may be tougher.)

It's back to the wet food cozietoesie. He's hooked on Sainsbury's own brand. I get him to eat the senior version in jelly but he prefers the meat in gravy. My friend gave it to me when her cat rejected it. She was literally eating out of dustbins before my friend rescued her. Now she is incredibly fussy.

It's the cheapest thing in Sainsbury's, but I wonder whether it's okay while I watch him devour it. I give him cooked chicken, tuna in spring water and he had some steak the other night and he licked the custard out of my bowl Grin

How is Seniorboy? I hope he is well.

This is Nobby's latest picture. He's looking a little bit older and very Princess and the Pea-ish on his cushions

Well - but very old now so he sleeps a great deal. Smile

I moved him onto Nature's Menu Country Hunter which, in view of his previous attachment to Felix AGAIL, I thought was a lost cause. Except that he cleans his plate every time.,Smile (By the time next feeding time comes round.) He needs the full range of flavours but I can manage five meals out of the four flavours available.

limitedperiodonly · 25/06/2016 21:22

I'm glad to know he's still with us.

Nobby likes Felix AGAIL but prefers Sainsbury's own or Coshida that's equally cheap and comes from asda or Lidl.

He also likes Encore and the mega-expensive Thrive

The trouble is that Country Hunter - while being massively high on meat content - is not cheap. Hey Ho.

Good luck with Nobby. Smile

Taken ten minutes ago. (My apologies that it's dark.)
