My cat has been killed

only adopted her in April. Very confident cat with a lot of personality. Saw her just at lunchtime, she came running in and jumped on the bed for strokes and cuddles. Thought it odd she didn't come for tuna when I made a sandwich an hour later. then an hour after that I had a call from a local vet that she'd been found a few roads away from where I live. .

DS is distraught. She was definitely his cat.

I am so sorry, it is never easy to lose a cat no matter how long or short a tome you have had them.

DS is thirteen. Has always had a huge love for all his animals. Was very unsure about getting this cat because when our last cat died he was the one who found her hurt and we had to take her to the vet to be PTS. But she chose him when we went to look at cats at Battersea and they have been practically inseparable ever since.

The vet nurse said it would have been instant. .

Hugs, OP. Exactly the same happened to us a few years ago (right down to having only had our cat a few months), when DS was 6. We sat on the sofa together and cried our eyes out and ate lots of chocolate.

I'm so sorry, WannaBe. It's some comfort when it's instant, especially considering you said about your last cat.

I am so so sorry, that's terrible. Same thing happened to us a few weeks ago and it was devastating.

How sad, for DCat, you and DS.

It might help you and DS to have a little ceremony for her, and I've been told the Blue Cross offer good supportive counselling.

It's a hard thing at any age but in your circumstances.....?

How is DS doing now?

He seems ok now. He's taken my guitar upstairs and has blagged money from me to buy an app so he can learn to play.

He'll be ok, but it's obviously always horrible when these things happen. Have said now no more cats ever. .

Don't close your mind to the possibility despite the horror of today.

So sorry to hear your sad news - we've lost a cat exactly the same way but didn't find him for two days. We have gone on to have more cats as we missed them in our home

So sorry about your cat. At least someone had the decency to take her to the vet who was able to contact you and at least you know where she is.

I had a lovely cat killed on the road a few years ago and his grave is in my garden. He'll always be near me. Hugs to Op and your ds.

As others said, try to take comfort in the fact they took her to the vet so you didn't always have to wonder what happened
