Does anyone manage to work from home / use a laptop, with a cat? I'm struggling today!

Yup - I cunningly put the tumble drier on earlier, which she prefers to my lap, as it doesn't shoo her off every 5 minutes. Good luck!

Yep, regularly have customers ask what the noise is in the background, its always one of them howling at me, it gets worse as the eldest sits at the window and cries from 5pm until his Dad his home, often that isnt until 7!!

I do tend to lock them out my office now just to try and get something done

DigestiveBiscuit · 15/06/2016 11:02

I shut them out of the room! When I get home, I have got to sort out the printer, which got all jammed as they sit on the output tray - watching the papers go in and come out is particularly fascinating! Walking all over the keyboard to turn off the WiFi and rotate the screen display sideways are second favourite!

It is tricky, obviously as a slave your first obligation is to the cat so why would you want to use a computer rather than stroke cat sitting on computer. I sometimes convince mine that they really want to go out and then accidentally lock the door for an hour or two. Another approach is to find something more comfortable for the master/mistress. Put it next to you, stroke, admire and convince them that you will protect them while they have forty winks and then hope that they have a long sleep.

DigestiveBiscuit the sideways screen thing ANNOYS me so much, I cannot believe how often it happens and yet every time I have to google how to fix, whilst keeping my head at a tilt to try and read!!

Sorry, I've posted this thread twice. Once with photo, once without. This is my current 'problem'

Digestive I so get the printer thing. That's my other cat's favourite pastime...paws into the printer to help the paper on its way.

Ha yes.

Currently trying to research and write an essay so of course I have one cat on the laptop and one cat on my notepad.

They are obsessed with my pens too. I've lost about 10 in the past 2 months.

Yep, I work from home too. Grin

Strangely, I get more work done when I'm in the office than when I'm working from home! Grin

The biggest difficulty that I've found is resisting temptation in order to actually do some work. There are few pleasures as fine as an afternoon snooze with a cat - and it's very easy to persuade yourself that it would actually be the responsible thing to do. Grin

Too true Cosie. I'm heading to the office today to catch up on my unproductive day yesterday. I'm loving the photos on this thread. Cats and computers Hmm

I'm meant to be working at home today, but surely with a cat looking like this, it would be rude not to have an hour's catnap also?!

Oh dear, this is worrying me! We are getting a kitten - it's going to destroy my productivity as well as my house, isn't it?! Shock Grin
