How much does your cat sleep?

My girl is about 3 years old (rescue so not sure).

The weather here is dreadful today and I'm waiting in for a delivery so I've not been in the garden with her.

Last night she spent all the night on our bed. It was so stormy that I was frequently waking and I know she was there and asleep. She is kept in from 7pm to 7am.
She then got up with me at about 7 am and had breakfast, outside for a poo (her not me), then was back in bed with DH from about 7.30.
She got up at 9.30 and wandered around outside for about 30 minutes before sleeping next to me on the table as I worked. Then upstairs for a proper sleep.
It's now 3.30 and she has just got up for a sit on the conservatory roof.

So far she has only spent about 2 hours actually up and awake.
Is this normal?

Cats are most active at dawn and dusk. The rest of the time is for sleep or a bit of patrolling. Or sleeping If your cat is lively when up and about, sounds ok to me. If listless then maybe chat to the vet. Buy a flying frenzy toy and have a play with her.

I don't think it's abnormal. Most cats sleep an awful lot of the time - 20 to 22 hours a day on some estimates.

Aren't they supposed to sleep about 18 hours a day or something?

Our bat-eared rescue beauty has one and off days. Some days I'll be amazed at how long she is awake for, but then other days I'll constantly be looking for her because she's asleep in a random room. She is crap at patrolling, though, and it seems she's either wide awake and running around like a loon or demanding attention, or she's fast asleep. She's the only cat I've seen so far who doesn't actually cat nap.

She certainly sleeps dead from 10pm-4pm because she occasionally gets shut in the bedroom with us by accident, and doesn't wake me up to be let out until 4-5am.

Yep. By patrolling I generally mean looking for a new warm spot to sleep in because the sun isn't doing her bidding. Oh look there's a bird. Now that spot looks cosy. That sort of thing.

It's affected by a great many things such as weather, hunting instinct, age, food availability, people availability etc etc. If that's normal for her and her health is otherwise OK, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think it might be the weather.
We had dreadful storms here last night and now it's feeling very autumnal. Very cold and windy.
She's eating fine but doesn't seem to want to play.

Also there was a change in our routine today so that might have put her out a bit. She is very much a creature of habit.

My cat sleeps nearly all the time. He goes upstairs to find a bed to sleep on at about 8pm and sleeps soundly until 6am, when he has breakfast, goes out for a few minutes, comes back upstairs for a cuddle and goes back to sleep by about 7am. He has "lunch" at 7.30 and is asleep again by 8am, up at about 3pm to see if it's time for dinner, back to sleep if not, gets up when we have dinner, so 7pm or so, and then upstairs for his big sleep by about 8. Frankly he barely moves, except to see if it's time for a meal!

Delivery came so I have been able to go in the garden with her. She is able to come and go herself but she loves it if someone is out there with her.

I think it's the weather, it feels like mid October here.

My 2 have been less active than usual this time of year. When we did have a bit of nice weather, they'd just move into the rosemary bush for a snooze. The littlest one nibbles it.
