Kitten's just been hurt

Dd out of the blue picked up tootsie and threw her for no reason.

Told Dd off immediately and went and saw to toots.

She was a bit wobbly and seemed to go into shock. About to panic and call the out of hours which we really can't afford but would if needed to when she seems to have come round. Her gums are nice and pink, she's walking on, her ears are nice and warm and her stomach is not swollen or distended.

She's currently laid on me dozing and purring at the moment but instantly wakes up if I move or touch her.

Do you think she's ok? What else should I be looking for?

I'm so cross with Dd. She knows all about gentle hands and will even tell her brother to be gentle with her. She's never done anything like this before and it's so out of character for her.

I know she's only wee herself but I don't I don't understand why she's done it. She knows about this. We never leave dc alone with the cat but now we have to up the ante and overly supervise Dd when before we could almost trust her to be careful.

I think it's just shook me as toots is only 10 weeks old. Dd could have seriously hurt or even killed her

Yeah I'm keeping a close eye.
She's still sprawled laid on me but gives me the tail flick if I dare touch her which is normal for her.

She's turned her nose up at fresh roast chicken though which is unlike her. Im hoping it's just cos she's still a bit shook up

How did your kitten land OP? On her feet? Did she hit anything? Are her pupils the same size?

Maybe your DD misinterpreted something she's seen? I say this as DS once bit our puppy on the back leg . He'd seen Daddy playing with the puppy by flipping her onto her back and nibbling her paws. She loved it and still does now she's 7 years old! DS tried to copy but didn't realise Daddy didn't actually bite. DS was 4 at the time.

I'm sure Toots will be fine. Kittens are pretty sturdy.

She landed on her side I think. I wasn't with them. Dh was.

But they are pretty resilient, more shook up than anything I would think.

If she is walking, eating, purring and playing then chances are the kitten will be fine. Try getting her to walk towards you unless she is "gatting" I think it's called (bit like dressage horses too) then her legs should be ok.

I can't think a three year old could "throw" a wriggly kitten too far, but your need to supervise more closely for a while.

She can definitely run ok.

Dh peeled off her me much to her disgust and she legged it as soon as she was put on the floor. She's not normally allowed upstairs which is where I am now. He retrieved her after a chase and brought her back to me for her to have some rest in peace

She doesn't sound to distressed to me :) I'd be a bit worried about the chicken but I have one who sometimes likes it another that would commit murder for just a sniff.

I have three, little kitten and big cat are currently creating a "fur storm" and kitten is most definetly holding her own! They are very resilient.

I expect toots is still getting used to the place, took PTC (precious third cat) a bit of time to settle in, is very much now the one in charge :)

Toots has settled in lovely and is ruling the roost. This is the first and last incident. She's had two bits of chicken that I placed in front of her but I've now moved the bowl away to coax her to get up and move about. At the moment her bed is holding her hostage

Mine have now ceased running around like loons having had some treats and now all fast asleep in their spots :) I'm sure they will resume the craziness when I am trying to sleep.
