At last - I have cats!

Well not quite yet, but as soon as the logistics of getting a few days off work so I can settle them in has been sorted, fitted around days when either my DSiS or SiL can come with me to collect them.

Now madly ordering Stuff on line for them like a large cat tree, litter trays, beds, feed bowls, brush/grooming mitt, carry basket(s), litter, food, window screens (they will be indoors only cats).

So what have I forgotten? I've been wanting this for years, and planning seriously for months, and now it's a reality my mind has gone blank!

A bottle of wine for you, it sounds like. Wink

You'll need to relax and enjoy them when they arrive. What are they like?

Allergictoironing · 15/05/2016 22:06

Brother and sister, about a year & a half old. He's black, she's charcoal tabby; both incredibly laid back. She's a good size, he's BIG. I was talking to them, skritching her behind the ear, when suddenly this small elegant paw (hers) appeared on my other hand in an almost possessive manner and I was LOST. The shelter think they've been overlooked for ages because they are so laid back, so while others come up & ask for attention they just lie back & wait for it as their due Grin.

Apparently they came from one of those multi-cat households (all running round un-neutered & un-cared for) and were in a dreadful condition when they came to the shelter, but both look stunning now.

How exciting!! Grin

My Siamese boys have all done a neat line in The Tentative Paw. (Proffered in a slightly shy/thoughtful fashion.) It would melt a heart of stone. Smile

Little Monsieur did "the paw" the first time I met him at 5 weeks. Accompanied by intelligent meaningful stare. Then a snoozle under my chin. He still does it now, if I'm feeling a tad rough. Or if he wants extra playtime.

I bet you're counting down the days.

How lovely! Please provide pics asap.

I need to have a long talk with my boss this morning about time off to settle them in. Circumstances at work mean he will be reluctant for me to have any time off until at least mid/late June and I'm damned if I'm waiting that long!

The rescue will keep them for me if absolutely necessary (especially as I offered to pay for their food, litter etc if it drags out) but after waiting Gods know how many years for this I want them NOW. Grin

Anyone that interested can google Rolvenden Cat Rescue & look for Linton & Lassa, I doubt the rescue will change the web page for a bit. They were lounging in the back of their house in the pen when I met them, so far too dark for pics at the time.

You can buy something called Feliway which is like a plug in diffuser (you can also get sprays) This helps with any stressful situations for cats ie moving house, new circumstances etc. Many cat behaviourists recommend using it. Plug it in 24 hours before they arrive and it will help settle them in.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2016 09:23

Feliway is great ime!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2016 09:25

Do you have toys? Our cat like the laser light and a feather on a stick - just don't leave it out as it can get wrapped round the cat's neck pretty easily.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2016 09:25

And little soft balls to chase!

Papergirl1968 · 16/05/2016 09:28

Caternity leave should be a legal right!
Congratulations!

I collected a cat for a rescue and had her overnight due to the distances involved. She did 'the paw' to me. Almost didn't put her in the basket!!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2016 15:12

Teen ds carries our cat around like you would a baby ,with him looking over ds's shoulder, it's the sweetest thing ever. One day while he was holding him I walked by and put my face down to give him a nuzzle and he did The Paw on my cheek...I nearly cried! Smile

hollinhurst84 · 16/05/2016 15:24

Mine does the paw Hmm he wants me to hold his paw while he sleeps

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2016 15:47

I hope you do! Wink

hollinhurst84 · 16/05/2016 15:54

hollinhurst84 · 16/05/2016 16:04

He holds them out now to have his claws done too HmmHmm

Allergictoironing · 16/05/2016 21:22

For a non-cat person (non-pet in general in fact), boss was surprisingly sympathetic & understanding; I put it down to him being a new dad Wink. Anyway, we compromised & I can have the end of next week off which means I get 6 days to collect them and settle them in what with the Bank Holiday Grin. Lovely DSis has taken a day off work herself to come & collect them with me.

Spent a small fortune on my way home on beds, litter trays, feeding bowls, food, litter and of course an assortment of toys. Tree & carrier are ordered & in transit.

Hollinhurst84 that's exactly what Lassa did to me!
